Lever is an US-based software company headquartered in San Francisco, California that provides an applicant tracking system for hiring. It was founded in 2012 by Sarah Nahm, Nate Smith, and Randal Truong.
Lever raised $2.8 million in a seed round in September 2012 and $10 million in its Series A round in October 2014. It is backed by an advisory board which includes Aaron Levie, CEO of Box, Marissa Mayer, CEO of Yahoo!, and Jeremy Stoppelman, CEO of Yelp. [1]
History
Smith, who graduated Olin College of Engineering in 2007 and worked previously as a product manager at Google, began Lever in 2012. He spent a year building a real-time web framework, Derbyjs.com. He applied and was accepted into Y Combinator with the goal of applying this framework to the ubiquitous problem of scaling talent. [2]
Smith connected with Nahm and Truong through Stanford University and Google networks. All three had previously worked at technology companies.[3][4]
In September 2012, Lever raised $2.8 million in a seed round led by SV Angel. Other investors include Marissa Mayer (CEO of Yahoo!), Aaron Levie (CEO and co-founder of Box), Jeremy Stoppelman (CEO and co-founder of Yelp), and Y Combinator.[2]
In October 2014, Lever raised $10 million in its series A round led by Matrix Partners. Matrix Partner's Dana Stalder joined the board. Other investors include SV Angel, Redpoint, Index Ventures, Y Combinator, and Khosla general partners Keith Rabois and Ben Ling. [5]
As of September 2015, minorities represented 49% of Lever’s workforce. The company has over 46% female leadership (including a female CEO). [6]
Software
Lever is a recruiting tool designed to help companies take candidates through the hiring pipeline.[5][7] Features include a browser extension for sourcing, bulk emailing capabilities, archiving or tagging candidates, and email scheduling. Reporting tools are designed allow managers and executives to have an overview of where they are tracking on recruiting goals. [5]

As of December 2015, Lever claimed to have over 700 customers including Netflix,[8] Lyft, [5] Eventbrite, [8] Yelp, [6] Quora, [5] Coursera, [5] Reddit, [5] and Shopify [9]
