Liberty High School (LHS) is a four-year public high school in northern Colorado Springs, Colorado, and part of Academy School District 20. It opened in 1987 and in 2005, it had an enrollment of 1365.

Achievements

LHS is a member of the College Board and the National Association of College Admission Counseling, and it accredited by the North Central Association of Secondary Schools.

Advanced courses available include college preparatory courses, International Baccalaureate, and opportunities for Advanced Placement.

Activities

In recent years, Liberty's "Pride of the Lancers Band" has been making great improvements, attributed to a new band teacher which was hired in 2007. Since then, the band has been rapidly growing in terms of members. In addition, the band has moved from placing 12th in state to as high as 2nd. In 2010, the Pride of the Lancers Band traveled to St. Louis to compete in the Bands of America Super Regional. They placed 23rd overall and 4th in their division.

Liberty also has a theater program, taught by Steve Skelcey. "The Wiz" was a very popular show, which won a national award for best set construction. Liberty's production of "Beauty and the Beast" also received second place in the ScenoGraphics National Set Construction Competition. The year 2009–2010 the plays were "West Side Story" and "Caught in the Act". The 2010-2011 productions were "Bram Stoker's Dracula" and "Seussical" both shows sold out for all showings and 2 showings respectively. The 2011-2012 season's plays were: "The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940", which was selected to show and headline at Thespcon 2011 in Denver; "Scarborough Fair: Cult Classics"; "Rough Magic"; and "Moby Dick! The Musical".
