Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council[1] (Irish: Comhairle Cathrach Lios na gCearrbhach agus An Caisleán Riabhach) is a local authority that was established on 1 April 2015. It replaced Lisburn City Council and Castlereagh Borough Council. The first elections to the authority were on 22 May 2014 and it acted as a shadow authority, prior to the creation of the Lisburn and Castlereagh district on 1 April 2015.

Changes
Councillors John and Jenny Palmer defected from the DUP to the UUP on the 2nd September 2015.[3]
Johnny McCarthy left NI21 to sit as an Independent.[4] In February 2016 he changed his party affiliation and joined the SDLP.[5]
Population
The area covered by the new Council has a population of 134,841 residents according to the 2011 Northern Ireland census.[6]
