List of Ai Yori Aoshi episodes

Ai Yori Aoshi, a manga series by Kou Fumizuki, was adapted into two anime television series by J.C.Staff directed by Masami Shimoda. Broadcast on Fuji TV, the first season premiered on April 10, 2002, and aired weekly until its conclusion on September 25, 2002, spanning twenty-four episodes.[1] Most of the music for the series was composed by Toshio Masuda. A second, twelve-episode anime television series titled Ai Yori Aoshi: Enishi (藍より青し ~縁~) was broadcast on Fuji TV premiering on October 2003 and running weekly until its conclusion on December 28, 2003.[2] In addition to the two seasons two Bonus episodes were also made. The first one appeared in season one and is called Speaking of Dreams, lasting 5 minutes long it shows the character's past and current dreams for the future.[3] The second Bonus episode on Ai yori Enishi (second season) is a sixteen-minute short and somewhat of a prelude to the series. It takes place a year or two before the very first episode of Ai Yori Aoshi begins.[4][5]

Geneon licensed both seasons of the anime adaptation for English-language dubbed released in North America. The first season of the anime series was released across five Region 1 DVD compilation volumes between February 23, 2003, and October 14, 2003.[6][7] A DVD boxset compiling all five volumes was released by Geneon. The second season of the anime series was released across three Region 1 DVD compilation volumes between July 6, 2004, and November 9, 2004.[8][9] A DVD boxset compiling all three volumes and DVDs released for the first season was released by Geneon on April 17, 2007.[8][10]

Three pieces of theme music were used in the anime series. The opening theme, titled "Towa no Hana" (永遠の花, lit. Eternal Flower), is performed by Yoko Ishida. "Na mo Shirenu Hana" (名も知れぬ花, lit. Unknown Flower) performed by The Indigo is the ending theme used for all of the episodes. The 18th episode's ending theme is "I'll Be Home" performed by Satsuki Yukino. In Japan, it was released across eight Region 2 DVD compilation volumes by Geneon Entertainment. The second season of anime adaptation also uses three pieces of theme music. The opening theme, "Takaramono" (たからもの, lit. Treasure) is performed by Yoko Ishida is the opening theme. "I Do!" is the first ending theme performed by The Indigo. The Indigo also performed the second ending theme, "Presence", is the second ending theme. Geneon released the series across six Region 2 DVD compilations in Japan.

A very fantasy-based bonus episode set at Christmas time, a year or two before the very first episode of Ai Yori Aoshi began. After a long night of work, Kaoru encounters a strange twist of fate when he is assaulted by a flying necklace. It isn't long before Kaoru finds the necklace's owner, since she appears in Kaoru's apartment shortly after Kaoru collapses on his futon. The mystery girl (who resembles Aoi) introduces herself as Santa Claus, and explains that the necklace is the key to her home world, and she cannot return without it. As a way of thanking Kaoru, Santa grants him one wish. Kaoru wishes to spend Christmas with Santa. Upon learning that she doesn't have a name, Kaoru quickly decides a new name for her: Aoi. The rest of the episode focuses on "Aoi" and Kaoru's special Christmas encounter.

Mayu's mother (working in Paris) designed a new summer dress and sent it to her daughter. And what better opportunity would there be to wear that but on a date with Kaoru? So Mayu, being the girl she is, visits the Sakuraba mansion and asks Kaoru out for a date, right in front of all other inhabitants. The date goes poorly though, as she tries to cater to Kaoru's interests in hope of catching his attention but just makes it more embarrassing for herself. Can Kaoru and Mayu save the date?

Professor Itsuki is thankful for Kaoru's work in his institute and makes a present of two tickets for a sea trip to Yokohama. Professor Itsuki insists on taking his "girlfriend" there. However, since all of the female tenants except Aoi are away and busy, this is Kaoru's chance to finally spend time alone with Aoi. During this stay they check into a hotel and spend the night. On this night it seems these to lovebirds break all the boundaries. As it seems Kaoru and Aoi appear to have sex.
