List of Golden Gate Transit routes
Golden Gate Transit (GGT) operates 37 bus routes consisting of 4 types:[1]

- Local
GGT does not permit local travel within San Francisco except to/from the Golden Gate Bridge Toll Plaza and the Presidio (at Richardson Avenue and Francisco Street).
Note: Schedules are updated quarterly to improve schedule reliability and efficiency.[2] Route information listed below is current as of 14 December 2015.
Basic service
Golden Gate Transit operates 5 Basic bus routes. Routes 10, 40, 70, and 101 provide daily service (including holidays) between San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma, and Contra Costa Counties. Route 101X operates during peak periods only.

- On weekdays, Routes 10 and 70 combine to provide service every 30 minutes between San Francisco and Marin City. North of Marin City, Routes 70 and 71 combine to provide service every 30 minutes. Transfers between Routes 10 and 71 are timed at Marin City to facilitate through travel.
Serving the East Bay
This service uses the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge.

Commute service
GGT operates 19 Commute bus routes with service primarily during weekday peak periods only. These routes do not operate on weekends or holidays.
Summary of services:
- 12 routes operate between Marin County and San Francisco.
- 5 routes operate between Sonoma County and San Francisco.
- 1 route operates within San Francisco only.
- 1 route operates between the East Bay and Marin County.
- All but 3 routes operate during peak periods only; Routes 4 and 27 operate throughout the day, and Route 97 operates only in morning rush hours.
- All but 5 routes operate southbound in the morning with return service in the afternoon and evening. Routes 4, 27, and 92 operate bi-directional service; Route 97 operates one southbound trip only; and Route 580 operates westbound in the morning and eastbound in the afternoon.

Serving Sonoma and Marin counties
Golden Gate Transit commute service from Sonoma County to Marin County employment centers, primarily in San Rafael, was discontinued in September 2010 due to low ridership.[3]
Ferry Shuttle service
Golden Gate Transit operates 3 Ferry Shuttle bus routes with service to Larkspur Ferry Terminal during weekday peak periods only. These routes are timed to connect with ferry crossings and does not operate on weekends or holidays.

Local service
GGT operates Local service within Marin County on 10 routes under contract with Marin Transit. Marin Transit determines the routes, schedules, and fares for all local service.[1] See here for service information on Routes 17, 22, 23, 29, 35, 36, 45, 45K, 49, and 71.
GGT previously operated Supplemental Local service within Marin County under contract with Marin Transit. However, the service ran through 19 June 2015 only, at which point the service was canceled or transferred to other contractors.[1]
