Tommy, the only one who has nothing to prove, tells the full story, he, Cole and Martin crashed a party with Pam and Gina in attendance. Martin got to know Gina through this, but his saxophone playing was stinky.

Special Note: Garrett Morris was written out of the script due to being hospitalized as a result of a mugging. A videotape of him as Stan was filmed while Morris was actually on his hospital bed.

Martin gets fired from his job at the new country radio station. He tries his hands at working odd jobs to make money to make ends meet, but nothing seems to work out. Sad and depressed, he decides to leave Detroit, but not before leaving a videotaped message for Gina and taking one last look at his old workplace, the former WZUP, and saying goodbye to his coworker Shawn, who wishes Martin best of luck wherever he goes. Martin's message says he will return when he finds himself and gets his life back on track, and says in case of emergency to call him, but the number gets drowned out by noise, leaving Gina with no way to track Martin.

After he says farewell to Tommy and Cole, Martin stands in the middle of the apartment and a montage of clips from the past five years roll. He writes "1 LUV" and his signature on the wall and as he turns off the lights he sighs "thank you" and exits the apartment. This episode ends the five-year run of Martin. Guest appearances by George Clinton, Lisa Leslie and Lou Rawls.

Note: Tisha Campbell returned to the series following a ten-episode hiatus, after settling a sexual harassment lawsuit against Martin Lawrence. As a condition of her agreement to return, Campbell's and Lawrence's scenes were filmed at different times, to prevent them from meeting each other; this results in Gina and Martin never appearing in the same scene together.
