This unaired pilot episode of Mrs. Brown's Boys follows the storyline of the first aired episode of the series, "The Mammy". However, there are some noticeable character and dialogue differences within the pilot. Note: This unaired pilot was later released with the Series 1 DVD. | ||||||

Agnes learns that her son, Dermot has split up with his girlfriend, Maria because he does not wish to move in with her and look at houses with her. Grandad also receives a visit from Dr. Flynn, who asks to do a rectal reading. This results in Grandad getting a thermometer stuck in his posterior. Agnes becomes concerned over Dermot, and talks to Cathy about the situation. However, when she says she wants to try and sort out the situation, Cathy tells her to stay out of it. Agnes does not listen, and talks to Maria before asking her to apologise for upsetting Dermot. Maria states she has misunderstood the situation, and when Dermot arrives home, she tells him to "get stuffed". Winnie talks about sex and vibrators when Cathy announces at the local pub she has a date. Betty proposes Cathy give Dermot and Maria a counselling session, which Agnes does not agree with. Cathy goes ahead with the counselling, and stages a fake fight with Agnes, which results in Dermot proposing to Maria. | ||||||

Mrs. Nicholson, Dermot's soon to be mother-in-law, pays a visit, and on seeing the Browns, believe that they are rednecks and relocates the wedding to Italy. Betty has kicked Mark out because he turned down a promotion to supervisor; the reason being that he is illiterate. Rory attempts to come out of the closet but Agnes does not understand him. And finally, Cathy is keeping her boyfriend a secret. Note: This episode is notable for introducing Mark and Rory to the TV series, and for including the first mentions of Betty and Mark's son, Bono. | ||||||

Agnes's son, Dermot, and his new wife, Maria, have a baby on the way, and they are desperate for a place of their own. The newly-weds just cannot afford to move out, but Agnes has a plan to help her son by trying to get her hands on the insurance money that Grandad has. Trevor tells Agnes to stop trying to prove that Grandad is dead, which follows the events from the finale of Series 1 where Agnes faked Grandad's death, as Agnes may face prison due to fraud. When Agnes receives a visit from a life insurance officer regarding the faking of Grandad's death, she dresses Grandad up as "Gretchen", an exchange student from Switzerland. However, the plan fails when Buster walks in and says to "Gretchen: "Heya, Grandad!". After Agnes is informed she be charged, and sent to prison, Maria bails her out. | ||||||

Agnes throws a going away party for Trevor. Meanwhile, Buster and Dermot run into trouble with a circus lion, burgling a house... The only person having a good day is neighbour Winnie: thanks to his new medication, her husband Jacko's erections are back. Winnie gives the famous "orgasm" talk that she gave in the book, movie and live show. And finally, daughter Cathy's family counseling session descends into chaos. To make matters worse for Cathy, Maria reveals a shocking discovery about her boyfriend, Mick, that he is, in fact, married. This leads to him getting a good telling off by Agnes in the style of "Feck off!". | ||||||

Having accidentally destroyed her Christmas tree, Agnes is visited by Father Damien, who tells her that she cannot play the Virgin Mary in the church nativity play as there will not be one this year. As a result she decides her write her own version. At the same time Cathy fools her into believing that she is being secretly filmed for a television show to find the best mother of the year. This makes Agnes untypically nice to everybody - until she learns the truth. | ||||||

Agnes prepares for her unorthodox nativity play, provisionally entitled Men Are Bastards. She finds parts for all the family and their friends though the animals provided by Dermot are not exactly biblical. Having survived being locked into a wrist magnet to cure her rheumatism Agnes takes to the stage but the production is a disaster - Buster's angel Gabriel gets badly singed, Father Damien's trousers are ripped off him by the magnet and a shocked Hilary faints on stage. Worse Agnes has lost the doll to be used as baby Jesus and Grandad has to play the role instead. It's time for Cathy to sack her mother and rally the family for a more traditional nativity play - though of course Agnes has the last word. |

It's the 27th anniversary of Redser's death, and to celebrate, Agnes wants to go off on a holiday to Galway, but 1 problem stands: Grandad, or as Agnes calls him, "The man that God forgot". Agnes tries to send him to a home, but due to Winnie actually believing the lies Agnes told Grandad to get him into the home, Winnie gets sent away. | ||||||

Betty buys the "ABC Of Sex" book in order to teach her son Bono the "birds and the bees". Agnes, meanwhile, with the help of a gigolo site called "Dial A Dick", gets a sex date for Valentine's night. Dermot employs Buster to buy a bus saying "I love Maria Brown" after hearing that she thinks he is not romantic anymore. Buster screws up by also writing "Cathy Brown does not need her tits blown up". Grandad, with the help of viagra, gets a threesome. | ||||||

Agnes gets a phone call that makes her children believe they are adopted. They all try hinting at her but in the end it turns out they are all biological. Meanwhile, Rory and Dino have a bust-up but get engaged shortly afterwards. Also, Mark and Betty bring good news to Agnes: they are not emigrating, as the printing out flyers for Mark's business was caused by Cathy, who manages to reunite with Mick after the latter reveals the truth about his past and affair. | ||||||

Agnes is well-pleased with her state of the art remote-controlled Christmas tree - though less so with Buster's exploding crackers. She reluctantly agrees to help Mark and Betty by finding out what their son Bono wants from Santa before hosting the family's pre-Christmas party, which makes her very cross when nobody - especially Hillary - will play by the rules in her party games, as usual. Grandad's charades contribution turns out to be a mild heart attack but, after the guests have gone, he still has fun at Agnes's expense with the Christmas tree. Agnes resorts to desperate measures to discover what Bono wants from Santa - whose visit is not what she expected. However the whole family comes together for their Christmas Day musical finale. | ||||||

Agnes prepares for her New Year's Eve party although half the guests have reasons for not coming to it. She is also perturbed that Mark and Betty want to send Bono to the very rough local school and is somewhat harassed when stern Father McBride persuades her to look after a parrot that belonged to Maria's recently deceased auntie. After having a mishap with some aerosol glue which she mistook for deodorant and accidentally bringing on Dino's food allergy Agnes learns that the parrot was living in a house of ill repute not unknown to Father McBride, a fact which comes in useful in keeping Bono out of the dreadful school. Further cause for celebration is the fact that Cathy and the boys turn up for New Year after all. |

With Christmas approaching Agnes is intrigued by a succession of boxes delivered for Cathy about which the other family members are keeping quiet. Then Dermot's dumb friend Buster lets slip that Cathy is working for the Tickled Pink company, which sells sex aids, though Agnes mistakenly believes that they are kitchen utensils and uses a dildo as a whisk. There is further confusion when Rory informs her that he will be having Botox, which Agnes thinks means a sex change - leading to embarrassment when Agnes mistakes Cathy's boss Margaret for her supposed transsexual son. With all the misunderstandings cleared up however Agnes ensures that the family's Secret Santa policy works out to her advantage. | ||||||

With a spate of burglaries in the area Agnes gets Buster to install a North Korean burglar alarm but not only is it too late as thieves have stolen the television but it is also useless, trapping Agnes and Buster in the living room and requiring Dermot to save them. Discovering that Dermot cannot get a bank loan to set up in business on his own and that Cathy is considering artificial insemination Agnes makes the decision to help them both out - by winning the 15,000 euros prize for the winner of the pub's poker tournament. |

Live Special (2016)
It was announced in September 2015, that the show would return for a one off live episode[8] in celebration of the 60th anniversary of sitcoms airing on BBC One. The episode was commissioned by Charlotte Moore as being the launchpad for BBC One's Landmark Sitcom Season airing in June 2016.[9]
Specials (2016-2017)
The BBC have confirmed that there will be another two specials episodes in December 2016 and January 2017[10] Both episodes will be recorded in front of a live studio audience in 2016.
