List of petitioners to create Gillespie County, Texas

Gillespie County is located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country on the Edwards Plateau in the U.S. state of Texas. It is named for Robert Addison Gillespie, a soldier in the Mexican-American War. The area was first home to the Tonkawa people, and was populated by Penateka Comanche in the mid-19th century. In 1845, German immigrants settled into the area. On December 15, 1847, a petition was submitted to create a county. In 1848, the legislature formed Gillespie County from Bexar and Travis counties.[1]
