Sailor Moon Crystal is a 2014 original net animation adaptation of the shōjo manga series Sailor Moon written and illustrated by Naoko Takeuchi and produced in commemoration of the original series' 20th anniversary.^[1] Produced by Toei Animation and directed by Munehisa Sakai and Chiaki Kon, the first two seasons of the series were streamed worldwide on the Niconico website from July 5, 2014 to July 18, 2015. It covered the first 26 chapters of the re-release manga.^[2][3] In September 2015, Toei announced that a third season was in production. The third season of Sailor Moon Crystal is known as the "Death Busters" arc, which is based on the "Infinity" arc of the manga.^[4] The first episode of the third season was previewed at the Animate Ikebukuro store in Tokyo on March 6, 2016.^[5] Sailor Moon Crystal is scheduled to continue its broadcast run with the third season on Tokyo MX on April 4, 2016 and will have 13 episodes.^[6][7][8]

Elsewhere, a shadowy man creates a woman out of clay and orders her to steal a "Legendary Silver Crystal". After Usagi hears from her friends about Sailor V who is a masked vigilante who recently thwarted a robbery, she and her friend Naru Osaka visit her mother's jewelry store, which is undergoing a sudden sale. After a brief encounter with a man wearing a tuxedo and Motoki Furuhata who is the proprietor at the Game Center Crown arcade, Usagi is once again approached by the cat. The cat reveals her name as Luna and has the ability to speak. Luna gives Usagi a brooch. This allows Usagi to transform into a Sailor Guardian. After transforming, Usagi hears a plea from Naru. Naru’s mother had been replaced by a monster named Morga who was using the discounted jewelry to drain energy from those who bought them. Calling herself "Sailor Moon", Usagi confronts Morga. Morga orders the possessed girls who had bought jewelry from her to attack Usagi. The Sailor Guardian's cries of anguish turn into ultrasonic waves and render the possessed girls’ unconscious. With encouragement from the tuxedo-wearing stranger, Usagi kills Morga using her Moon Tiara Boomerang. As Usagi sees off the stranger, who introduces himself as Tuxedo Mask, the shadowy man watches over her actions.

Ami Mizuno is a particularly gifted student at Juban Public Middle School. She is envious of Usagi's ability to make friends. Meanwhile, Jadeite who is the shadowy man from before is ordered by his leader, Queen Beryl, to create a new monster. Luna feels that Ami has the potential to become a Sailor Guardian. The next day, Luna makes an opportunity for Usagi and Ami to befriend each other after school. The two go to Game Center Crown arcade. They win two pens from the Sailor V arcade game machine. Afterwards, Ami goes to the Crystal Seminar, where students use computers to study. Ami is unaware that they have drained their energy as one of Jadeite's plans. Discovering Ami's strange behavior, Usagi and Luna look into the disk she received from the Crystal Seminar. They realize that it is a hypnotizing program tricking people into finding information on the Legendary Silver Crystal. Usagi uses the pen she received from the arcade machine to disguise herself as a doctor. She sneaks into the Crystal Seminar to rescue Ami. After the monster reveals herself as Garoben, Usagi transforms and is overpowered by Garoben. This causes Ami to snap out of her trance. Ami uses the pen she received from the arcade to transform into a new Sailor Guardian known as Sailor Mercury. Using her Mercury Aqua Mist attack, Ami disables Garoben. Usagi kills Garoben with her Moon Tiara Boomerang attack.

Queen Beryl calls out Jadeite for his failures. She reveals to him and two other dark kings named Nephrite and Zoisite that the Legendary Silver Crystal is said to contain immense power. Meanwhile, at the Hikawa Shrine, Usagi meets a shrine maiden named Rei Hino. They soon realize that a girl has disappeared. They assume that it is connected to a rumor about a "Demon 6:00 P.M. Bus" that is said to spirit people away. While returning to the Hikawa Shrine, Usagi encounters the stranger once again. He reveals his name as Mamoru Chiba. As Rei laments living alone due to her mysterious powers, she sees a vision of Usagi being captured and rushes out. Jadeite captures Rei and takes her inside the Demon Bus. Usagi follows as it drives through a portal. Using Usagi's transformation as a tracking signal, Ami enters the portal to meet up with Usagi and fight Jadeite. Jadeite kidnapped the children to lure Usagi into a trap. When Rei attempts to stop Jadeite from using his ice powers to freeze Ami and Usagi, she awakens her own powers and transforms into Sailor Mars. After Usagi launches one final Moon Tiara Boomerang attack to trap Jadeite, Rei overpowers Jadeite's ice abilities with her own flames. This forces him to flee. As the missing children are safely returned to their families, a mysterious chest is flown into Japan.

Luna overhears Usagi's classmates talk about how a princess from the kingdom of D will be exhibiting a secret treasure during a dinner party. Luna believes it to be related to the Moon Princess and the Legendary Silver Crystal. Usagi disguises herself, Ami, and Rei as princesses. They sneak into the embassy. While Usagi wanders off and ends up briefly dancing with Tuxedo Mask, Ami and Rei discover Princess D's bodyguard is actually Nephrite. His shadow possesses Princess D and has her escape with the kingdom's treasure. After Usagi and Tuxedo Mask end up saving each other from being knocked off a balcony, Usagi joins Ami and Rei in confronting the possessed princess. Usagi receives a new tiara in the process. Using the new tiara's power, Usagi reflects the moonlight and blasts Nephrite's shadow out of Princess D's body. After Nephrite regroups with Jadeite, Zoisite, and Kunzite, they introduce themselves as the Four Kings of Heaven. They take their leave. As Princess D reveals her kingdom's secret treasure, which turns out to be a diamond carving of herself, Tuxedo Mask gives a sleeping Usagi a kiss. He flees after revealing to Luna that he is also searching for the Legendary Silver Crystal.

One day, Usagi is saved from being hit by a car by a girl wearing another school's uniform. She reveals herself to be a transfer student named Makoto Kino. Although the others in Makoto's class are too intimidated by her assumed superhuman strength to approach her, Usagi easily befriends her and takes her to the arcade. Motoki entrances Makoto due to his resemblance to an upperclassman Makoto knew. Usagi and the others hear about a bridal shop that is said to be cursed by a possessed mannequin that seduces grooms and kidnaps them. That night, Tuxedo Mask appears before Usagi. He leads her and the others to Makoto as she is cornered by Motoki. Motoki has been possessed by the "cursed bride" monster commanded by Nephrite. Feeling betrayed by Nephrite's manipulation of her feelings, Makoto regains her spirit when Usagi tells her to believe in love. Makoto gains the power to become Sailor Jupiter and defeats Nephrite and his monster. With Makoto joining the Sailor Guardians, Luna brings out a new magical item known as the Moon Stick. Luna gives the Moon Stick to Usagi. Luna assigns Usagi as the leader of the Sailor Guardians.

Tuxedo Mask announces that he has committed various crimes in search of the Legendary Silver Crystal to discover information. That night, Luna explains that she was sent from the Moon Kingdom to awaken the Sailor Guardians, search for the Moon Princess, and protect the Legendary Silver Crystal. The Legendary Silver Crystal is said to have enough power to destroy an entire planet. Usagi hears a voice from the Sailor V arcade game. She ponders if Sailor V is also one of their allies. The next day, Zoisite uses the media to hypnotize citizens into searching for the Legendary Silver Crystal. This sends the city into chaos. Luna takes the girls to her secret base underneath the arcade. Luna manages to locate the source of the controlling signal. Usagi runs off on her own when Luna implies it may be Tuxedo Mask's doing. As the other Sailor Guardians confront Zoisite, Usagi comes across Tuxedo Mask. He apologizes for things turning out like this and states that he desires to search for the Legendary Silver Crystal despite lacking any special power of his own. After Zoisite overpowers the Sailor Guardians with his attacks, Queen Beryl arrives and prepares to turn the Earth into part of the Dark Kingdom. Knowing of Usagi's identity as Sailor Moon, Tuxedo Mask encourages her to use her own special power to help her friends. Usagi's desire to protect everyone allows her to use the Moon Stick's Moon Healing Escalation technique to critically damage Zoisite. This forces him and Queen Beryl to flee. Usagi restores the citizens to normal. After exhausting her energy, Usagi wakes up the next day in Mamoru's apartment. Usagi learns Mamoru’s true identity as Tuxedo Mask.

Mamoru explains to Usagi that he needs the Legendary Silver Crystal to regain his memories, which he lost in a car accident that killed his parents. He asks her to keep his identity a secret. Meanwhile, Queen Beryl meets with her master, Queen Metalia. Queen Beryl recalls when she first released her from the seal the Sailor Guardians previously placed upon her. Beryl then dispatches Zoisite once again to steal the Legendary Silver Crystal. As Usagi and the others do some research on Sailor V, they soon discover that a DVD rental shop set up by Zoisite is brainwashing citizens into searching for Sailor Moon. After Usagi uses her Moon Healing Escalation to cure the brainwashed citizens, she is attacked by Zoisite. Mamoru rescues Usagi. He realizes his true wish is to protect her. Zoisite singlehandedly knocks out Mamoru. Usagi is saved from certain death by Sailor V and her white cat companion named Artemis.

As Sailor V's partner, Artemis, says that she is Princess Serenity of the Moon Kingdom, Usagi's tiara suddenly changes shape and shows her a brief glimpse of a forgotten memory. After both Zoisite and Mamoru retreat, Sailor V introduces herself as Minako Aino. She explains about the Dark Kingdom's ambitions to gather energy from innocent people and conquer Earth and her mission to seal Queen Metalia once again. After having a dream about a man named Endymion, Usagi runs into Mamoru. He offers to trade Usagi's lost handkerchief for the return of his pocket watch some time. Artemis reveals to Luna that she had some of her own memories sealed. Later that night, Kunzite demands that Minako bring the Legendary Silver Crystal to him alone or else everyone in Tokyo will be killed. Kunzite causes a blackout in the city and drains energy from everyone. The other Sailor Guardians soon catch on and join Minako in fighting against Kunzite. When he launches an attack at everyone, Mamoru steps in to take the hit and protect Usagi who tries to protect her friends from Kunzite's attack.

In his dying moments, Mamoru comes to realize that his true identity is Endymion. Endymion is the first prince of Earth who was reborn to reunite with the true Serenity, Usagi. Usagi's sorrow over Mamoru's death transforms her into the true Serenity. She regains memories of her past life in the process and shows how she fell in love with Endymion despite their being laws against people from the Earth and Moon seeing each other. When the Earth Kingdom attacked Silver Millennium, Endymion sacrificed himself to protect Serenity. Usagi's tears bring forth the Legendary Silver Crystal and that power drips into Mamoru's body. Queen Beryl arrives, and she and Kunzite take Mamoru back to their realm. This leaves Usagi devastated. Afterwards, Minako reveals she is the true leader of the Sailor Guardians, Sailor Venus. Artemis shows the other Sailor Guardians their past lives. Sometime later, the girls visit Usagi. Her hair has been rapidly growing since that day. The other Sailor Guardians assure her that she does not have to walk the same tragic path as Serenity. In order to locate the Dark Kingdom where Mamoru is being held, all of the Sailor Guardians decide to travel to the moon and learn the whole truth.

After a few days of preparation, Usagi and the others land on the moon. They soon arrive at the ruins of Silver Millennium. Upon pulling out a sword that was lodged in a stone in the castle's prayer room, the girls are greeted by a hologram of Princess Serenity's mother, Queen Serenity. Queen Serenity shows them their past lives in Silver Millennium. She reveals it was an evil force that brainwashed the Earth Kingdom into attacking Silver Millennium. Princess Serenity committed suicide after Endymion died trying to protect her. Queen Serenity assures Usagi that Mamoru is still alive as she had willed the Legendary Silver Crystal to save him. She asks Usagi to think about the true power of the Legendary Silver Crystal before her time runs out. Meanwhile, the Four Dark Kings had been eavesdropping on Queen Beryl speaking with Queen Metalia. The Four Dark Kings learn that they were once righteous knights who served under Endymion in their past lives. They had been used by Queen Beryl before they had regained their memories. However, they are discovered by Queen Beryl and once again put under her control. Queen Beryl sends them to Earth to freeze Tokyo and obtain the Legendary Silver Crystal from Usagi. Recognizing the four knights' true identities, Minako and the other Sailor Guardians combine their powers into the Sailor Planet Attack in order to try and free the knights from Queen Beryl's control. The Four Dark Kings escape before they can be purified. Meanwhile, Queen Beryl uses her power to put Mamoru under her control. She sends him to kill Usagi.

Usagi and the others try out the sword they obtained from the moon. Ami theorizes that it and the rest of Silver Millennium turned into a poisonous stone. While the others continue their research, Usagi sneaks out and discovers someone strongly resembling Mamoru. Usagi is unaware it is actually Mamoru under Queen Beryl's control. He has used hypnotism to make himself Motoki's friend. Makoto attempts to figure out his true identity. She is hypnotized into leading the others to the command center and drawing out Usagi and the Legendary Silver Crystal. Usagi is reluctant to fight against Mamoru as he takes the Legendary Silver Crystal. When he injures Luna, Usagi is convinced Mamoru is a fake. Usagi uses the Moon Healing Escalation to cure Luna. Queen Beryl appears and takes the Legendary Silver Crystal for herself. She reveals to Usagi that Mamoru is the real thing.

Queen Beryl states that Mamoru had died and has been resurrected as the strongest warrior of the Dark Kingdom. She shakes Usagi's resolve once again. As Ami takes everyone to an alternate dimension to protect the command center, Minako explains to the others how Queen Metalia is the one controlling Queen Beryl. In Queen Beryl’s previous life, she was the one who killed Endymion. Queen Beryl ensnares the Sailor Guardians. Minako manages to call forth the holy sword to break them free before the girls launch a group attack to try and break the necklace that sends Queen Metalia's power to Queen Beryl. Though the necklace proves resilient, Usagi's desire to bring Mamoru to his normal self gives the sword the power to break it. This destroys Queen Beryl in the process. Afterwards, words appear on the sword that state it can use the power of the Legendary Silver Crystal to restore the Moon Kingdom. Queen Metalia has Mamoru steal the holy sword. This forces Usagi to chase after him through a portal taking them to the North Pole. As Usagi confronts Mamoru, who has the power of Queen Metalia behind him, the other four Sailor Guardians end up having to confront the Four Dark Kings in order to reach her. The other four Sailor Guardians manage to purify the Four Dark Kings and remind them of their true purpose. Queen Metalia kills the Four Dark Kings. Learning from Luna that a piece of the Legendary Silver Crystal is inside Mamoru's body, Usagi fails to purify him with the Moon Healing Escalation. Usagi strikes Mamoru with the holy sword before stabbing herself with it.

With Usagi and Mamoru's death, the Legendary Silver Crystal takes its true form. Mamoru and Usagi are sucked in by Queen Metalia. Luna is hurt in the process. The other Sailor Guardians attempt to fight in Usagi's place. They are unable to stop Queen Metalia, who uses the power of the Legendary Silver Crystal to spread her evil all over Earth. Meanwhile, Luna has Artemis take her to the command crystal to ask for Queen Serenity's help. Despite the seemingly hopeless situation, the other Sailor Guardians sense that Usagi is still alive and call upon the power of the holy sword. They use their own life force to awaken Usagi. She survived her suicide attempt thanks to Mamoru's pocket watch. Using the Legendary Silver Crystal's power, Usagi breaks free from Queen Metalia's grasp. She is relieved to find Mamoru is still alive. Usagi struggles to seal Queen Metalia by herself. The spirits of the Four Dark Kings, whose gems had protected Mamoru from the holy sword, inform Mamoru of Queen Metalia's weak point. This allows Mamoru to give Usagi the courage to bring out the Legendary Silver Crystal's true form as the Moon Stick.

As Usagi tries to use the strength of her heart to overpower Queen Metalia, the power of the other Sailor Guardians restores the Crystal Tower on the Moon. Luna uses the Crystal Tower to grant Usagi the power of the Moon. Using this power, Usagi manages to destroy Queen Metalia with the Moon Stick. This shatters her own transformation brooch in the process and restores the Silver Millennium to its former glory. After being awakened by a kiss from Mamoru and learning the fate of her friends, Usagi is summoned by Luna to the Moon. Usagi is told she will become the new queen. However, Usagi states that she wants to return to living on Earth with her friends and lover. Queen Serenity gives her a new transformation brooch. This allows Usagi to become Sailor Moon once more and use Moon Healing Escalation to restore the planet to normal and bring back her friends. As the girls return to their peaceful everyday lives, Usagi and Mamoru's private time is suddenly interrupted when a pink-haired girl suddenly falls out from a portal in the sky. The girl is also named Usagi. The young girl points a gun at Usagi. She demands she give her the Legendary Silver Crystal.

Mamoru stops the smaller Usagi, who only had a fake gun. Another evil group, Black Moon, led by Prince Demande seeks to target the Legendary Silver Crystal, which could stand in the way of their plans. One of the members, Crimson Rubeus, sends his servants, the four Specter Sisters, to accomplish this task. Meanwhile, Mamoru tries to reason with the smaller Usagi, who is subsequently referred to as "Chibiusa". He experiences a strange vision coming from her. Upon being taken back to Usagi's house, Chibiusa hypnotizes Usagi's family into letting her stay with them. Luna decides it is best to keep an eye on Chibiusa until they can figure out who she is. Luna gives all the Sailor Guardians new transformation items and communicators. Meanwhile, Rei helps out with her school's Supernatural Research Club for a school fair. Rei learns about alleged incidents of people being abducted or spontaneously combusting. Rei's fortune telling booth is challenged by another fortune teller, Koan Kurozuki. Koan can allegedly predict a person's past and time of death. Upon investigating further, Rei discovers her school's nuns with marks on their heads. She soon finds one of the nuns being burnt alive. This prompts Usagi and the other Sailor Guardians to transform. They are unaware that Chibiusa is watching them. The Sailor Guardians are soon confronted by Koan. She reveals herself to be one of the Specter Sisters. Koan traps Rei in an inextinguishable blue flame. As Usagi and Mamoru try to save her, they bring forth Queen Serenity's Moon Rod. Usagi performs Moon Princess Halation to destroy Koan. However, the blue flames remain unbroken. Rubeus captures Rei and takes her away.

Spotting Chibiusa watching them, Usagi tries to question her about who captured Rei. She is stopped by Luna. Chibiusa ends up running away to the park. She is later found by Luna and Mamoru. Mamoru takes her back to his place to get to know her better. He learns that Chibiusa got the name "Small Lady" from her mother. Chibiusa wants Sailor Moon to rescue her mother. As Mamoru tells Usagi about what he learned from Chibiusa, the next of the Specter Sisters, Berthier, challenges Ami to a chess match. Berthier demands from Ami to give up Chibiusa should she win. Using a pendulum that can read her mind, Berthier takes advantage of Ami's fears of ending up alone. After receiving some encouragement from Usagi, Ami regains her confidence and wins the match. However, Ami is caught in Berthier's water sphere after she won the match. Sailor Moon destroys Berthier, but Rubeus captures Ami and takes her away.

The Sailor Guardians feel they need to solve the mystery behind Chibiusa in order to save their captured friends. Later that night, Mamoru experiences a brief flash of Chibiusa's memories upon approaching her. Mamoru is shown the image of an explosion. Meanwhile, Asanuma is an underclassman of Makoto who had overheard a curious conversation between Usagi, Mamoru, and Luna. Asanuma looks after Makoto who is suffering from a cold. Asanuma learns about Makoto’s battle. Asanuma hopes to become strong enough to protect Makoto. Shortly after Asanuma leaves, the third Specter sister, Petz, spreads a virus across the city. Petz sends an army of Droids to replace everyone in their weakness. Despite Usagi managing to defeat Petz, Makoto has been weakened by the virus. Makoto is caught by her own thunder. Rubeus captures Makoto and takes her away.

Frustrated by her failure, Minako proposes to Usagi and Mamoru that they talk with Chibiusa. Chibiusa appears to have made a friend named Momo. Chibiusa is seen freaking out upon seeing the Petz's Malefic Black Crystal earrings. Meanwhile, the other members of Black Moon become curious about their advisor, Wiseman. Rubeus sends the fourth and final Specter Sister, Calaveras. Calaveras uses her medium powers to call upon the powers of her fallen sisters. Usagi remains upset that Chibiusa refuses to tell her anything. Usagi’s friends show her a DVD of Calaveras allegedly channeling Rubeus. Calaveras and Rubeus are setting up a public channeling session to lure out Minako. Usagi discovers Chibiusa has taken her transformation brooch. Minako comes across Calaveras. Calaveras uses her powers to possess others with the spirits of her sisters. Rubeus confronts Usagi and Chibiusa. Mamoru saves them. Mamoru awakens his own power to stop Rubeus' attack. After Usagi comes to Minako's aid and defeats Calaveras, Chibiusa explains that she comes from 30th century Earth to seek Sailor Moon's help in saving her time.

Mamoru suggests they give Chibiusa some time to think it over first. As Chibiusa spends the night at Mamoru's apartment, Usagi admits her jealousy over how close the two appear to be. Mamoru gives Usagi his assurance and spends the night with her. Meanwhile, Luna recalls in a dream about a closed door in the Moon Kingdom that Queen Serenity forbid her from opening. Chibiusa decides to take Usagi and the others to the future. Chibiusa uses her space-time key to open up the doorway to the future. They become separated from Chibiusa and wound up across the door from Luna's dream. The Guardian of Time, Sailor Pluto, guards the door. Sailor Pluto believes Usagi and the others to be intruders. Pluto is hostile towards them until she is stopped by Chibiusa. Pluto reveals Chibiusa as a princess of the 30th century Earth. Pluto is glad to see Chibiusa's safe return. Pluto grants Usagi and the others safe passage to the 30th century Earth. They see a large black crystal has robbed energy from all of Crystal Tokyo's citizens. Before they can reach the Crystal Tokyo Palace, Chiral and Achrial confront them. Chiral and Achrial are the servants of Black Moon's Esmeraude. Chiral and Achrial trap everyone inside a magnetic field from which they cannot escape. Mamoru once again hears a voice. The voice shows him how to break out of the field and defeat Chiral and Achrial. Usagi and the others reach the Crystal Tokyo Palace. They come across Chibiusa's mother, Neo Queen Serenity, who is frozen in the crystals. Another Tuxedo Mask greets Usagi and the others.

The future Tuxedo Mask appears as a projection of his soul. He reveals himself as King Endymion who is Mamoru's future self. He further reveals that Neo Queen Serenity is Usagi's future self, and Chibiusa is their daughter. King Endymion explains how Neo Queen Serenity was encased in the Legendary Silver Crystal, which protected her from a giant explosion. Chibiusa and her cat Diana survived. Diana is Luna and Artemis' daughter. He further explains how the Legendary Silver Crystal gave Neo Queen Serenity and the other people on Earth long lifespans. This brought peace until the day the explosion brought about the Malefic Black Crystal, which began draining lives one at a time. King Endymion explains the origins of the Black Moon who fought against those with long lifespans and hijacked the abandoned planet of Nemesis as their headquarters. King Endymion learned from Usagi and the others that Black Moon members are also planning to take over the 20th century Earth. Noticing that Usagi and Mamoru cannot stay in the future for too long, King Endymion informs them that the captured Sailor Guardians are most likely on Nemesis. He has Pluto give Usagi a key so that they can freely travel between the past and the future Earth. After returning to her time, Usagi resents Mamoru's insistent protection of Chibiusa, feeling he is not considering she can do the same. Chibiusa pays a visit to the future on her own. Esmeraude targets Chibiusa. Usagi discovers she cannot use her Legendary Silver Crystal's power while in the future. Despite Mamoru managing to destroy Esmeraude with help from King Endymion, Prince Demande suddenly appears. Prince Demande uses the power of his third eye to capture Usagi.

Meanwhile, King Endymion states that Chibiusa cannot utilize the power of the Legendary Silver Crystal. King Endymion deduces that members of the Black Moon are descendants of Phantom. Phantom is an evil that Neo Queen Serenity sealed away on Nemesis long ago. Unable to transform due to Nemesis' influence, Usagi decides to cast aside her doubts and focus on her desire to protect others. Usagi’s voice manages to awaken Ami, Rei, and Makoto before they are once again restrained by Prince Demande. Meanwhile, Chibiusa recalls how peer pressure led her to take the Legendary Silver Crystal. Chibiusa believes she is the cause of the tragedy that took place. Chibiusa also believes she caused her first meeting with Pluto, who befriended her in her time of need. Chibiusa overhears King Endymion ask for Sailor Pluto's help in rescuing Usagi. Chibiusa believes she has no one else to turn to for support. Chibiusa ends up wandering into Wiseman's clutches and falls under his influence.

Usagi is still stuck on Nemesis. She hears a conversation between Rubeus and Saphir. After Usagi faints, Prince Demande catches her. Usagi leaves. She says how she is going to get off this planet. After a while, Usagi goes back to where she heard the conversation. Saphir is there. He talks about his home to Usagi. Saphir has two droids trap Usagi. He is about to kill her when she receives strong will power, which prevents Saphir from stabbing her and destroys his two droids. Usagi transforms into Sailor Moon and finds Ami, Rei, and Makoto, who are now able to transform and escape their imprisonment. They reach Nemesis' reactor, where they face Demande, Saphir, and Rubeus. Neo Queen Serenity speaks through Sailor Moon and confronts Demande about his crimes. The Legendary Silver Crystal's power causes Nemesis' reactor to melt down. Rubeus tries to escape to safety. When Wiseman kills Rubeus, an unknown shadowy woman is at his side. Demande tries to kill the four Sailor Guardians, but they escape to the door of Time and Space. They reunite with Sailor Venus. Sailor Moon learns that Mamoru ran after Chibiusa. Neither one has a space-time key.

She finds the other four Sailor Guardians have brought her home. They go back to the future, where Black Lady charges in. Black Lady tries to attack Usagi. Neo Queen Serenity who is inside the Legendary Silver Crystal Palace sends a powerful light. This causes Black Lady to be locked out of the Legendary Silver Crystal Palace. The five Sailor Guardians arrive to see what happened to Black Lady. Black Lady summons Wiseman. Black Lady prepares to fight Usagi, Ami, Rei, Makoto, and Minako.

Everyone is shocked at the realization that Black Lady is in fact Chibiusa. Black Lady summons Saphir and Prince Demande to subdue the Sailor Guardians. Black Lady reveals Mamoru is under her control. Mamoru strikes Usagi using the Cutie Moon Rod. As Usagi falls to the ground, Black Lady proceeds to kiss Mamoru. Usagi apologizes to Chibiusa for being so selfish, but it is of no use. Black Lady summons another Malefic Black Crystal and makes it plummet to Earth like the two previous ones. Usagi prepares to defend the Legendary Silver Crystal Palace. Wiseman orders Black Lady to summon another Malefic Black Crystal. Demande had kept a lucid mind all along. He objects to the summoning of another Malefic Black Crystal because this would destroy the 30th century Earth. Demande is forced to kill his brother who attacks him by orders of Black Lady. Demande seemingly defeats Wiseman. It is revealed that Wiseman's real identity is the planet Nemesis itself. At the door of Time, Sailor Pluto remembers when Queen Serenity assigned her the duty of Sailor Guardian over time. Queen Serenity told Pluto about the three taboos she must not break. Nemesis/Wiseman descends upon the Legendary Silver Crystal Palace. As things seem bad for the Sailor Guardians, Diana goes to the door of Time seeking Pluto's help. Pluto goes to help the Sailor Guardians. Mamoru takes away the Legendary Silver Crystal from Usagi, which undid her transformation. Black Lady holds both the past and present Legendary Silver Crystals. Demande steals them from Black Lady just as Pluto arrives. Demande attempts to have both Legendary Silver Crystals touch each other. This would result in the destruction of the Earth.

Pluto breaks Black Lady's control over Mamoru. Usagi retrieves the past and present Legendary Silver Crystals from Demande. Pluto recalls Queen Serenity that stopping time will result in her own death. As Pluto is dying, Black Lady remembers the good times she had with her. Pluto's death unfreezes time and breaks Nemesis' control over Black Lady, where she becomes Chibiusa again. Everyone witnesses Chibiusa transform into a Sailor Guardian. With Mamoru's help, the Sailor Guardians attack Nemesis simultaneously. Nemesis temporarily fades away. Demande knows all of Nemesis' tricks and attacks Nemesis when Nemesis is attempting to direct his attack at the Sailor Guardians. Nemesis overpowers Prince Demande and kills him. Nemesis engulfs the future Earth and distorts space with the energy from the Malefic Black Crystals. Nemesis reveals his true form to the Sailor Guardians. He reveals his past as Death Phantom who was defeated and banished by Neo Queen Serenity to the planet known as Nemesis. Over the next few centuries, Death Phantom merged with the planet Nemesis to become one entity. The Sailor Guardians, Chibiusa, Mamoru, and King Endymion prepare for their final battle against the Death Phantom.

Neo Queen Serenity awakens from her longtime slumber inside the Legendary Silver Crystal Palace due to Chibiusa accepting her destiny as a princess of the future Moon Kingdom and as a Sailor Guardian who transformed into Sailor Chibi Moon. Neo Queen Serenity sees the dead Sailor Pluto and transports her body to rest eternally inside the Legendary Silver Crystal Palace. Usagi and Mamoru hug and kiss before Chibiusa arrives to help them. Usagi and Chibiusa both use the Moon Princess Halation attack to defeat the Death Phantom successfully. Once the Death Phantom is defeated, Neo Queen Serenity bestows the Sailor Guardians new transformations and planet powers. Neo Queen Serenity uses her powers to restore the future Earth and all its residents back to normal. After everyone rejoices, Chibiusa will lead Mamoru, the five Sailor Guardians, Luna, and Artemis to the Space Time Door to return to the past Earth. Before Usagi leaves the Legendary Silver Crystal Palace in Crystal Tokyo, she meets and speaks to her future self who is Neo Queen Serenity face to face. Chibiusa tells Usagi that she has to go back to the future Earth. Chibiusa, Usagi, and later Mamoru all go to the water fountain to where they first met and say a heartfelt goodbye to Chibiusa. Chibiusa uses her Space Time Key to teleport to the future Earth of the 30th century. Mamoru and Usagi were about to kiss before Chibiusa teleported back to the past Earth of the 20th century that interrupted their kiss. Chibiusa gives Mamoru a letter from her mother, which says Chibiusa has returned so that they can train and spend more time with her.

An entity called Pharaoh 90 which plans to overtake the Earth instructs a woman named Kaolinite to destroy the "powers of light" that can bring him to ruin. At the same time, a young girl has a dream about the Sailor Guardians, accompanied by a voice which calls for her awakening and "the beginning of doom." Both Mamoru and Rei share the girl's ominous premonition. The next day, a news report airs concerning students being transformed into monsters in a process called "Reversion." After school, Usagi joins her friends at the local arcade, and they meet a famed auto racer named Haruka Tenoh. Outside the arcade, Mamoru encounters a prominent violinist named Michiru Kaioh. She subsequently leaves with Haruka. As the two depart, Makoto and Minako recognize their school uniforms from the prestigious Mugen Academy, a school for elite students. Suddenly, another student from Mugen Academy is transformed into a monster in front of the Sailor Guardians, who transform and use their powers to bring her back to normal. Haruka and Michiru can be seen observing the altercation from afar. After gathering at their base, Usagi and her friends learn that all victims so far have been students from Mugen Academy and decide to investigate the school further.

Usagi returns home and finds Chibiusa on the phone with Mamoru. She learns that Mamoru is going to escort Chibiusa and her friends to the amusement park the next day. Usagi wants to go too, but Mamuro reminds her that she is going with her friends to investigate Mugen Academy. Meanwhile, Kaolinite instructs the Witches 5 to find and eliminate the Sailor Guardians promising them that if they succeed, they might be able to reach the rank of Magus, which she holds. As the girls stand in front of Mugen Academy, they sense something very wrong about it. Usagi pulls out her Disguise Pen and transforms herself into a Mugen Academy student in order to get in. She looks around the building, and when she hears music playing, is drawn toward the sound. Outside, Usagi's friends, Mamoru, and Chibiusa also hear the violin music and head toward its source. Usagi finds Michiru playing a violin, but the latter stops and warns her that coming to that place is dangerous. Haruka intercepts Usagi's friends as they approach and tells them to leave and not get in their way. Chibiusa finds a girl crouching on the ground, apparently in pain, and offers help, but she tells her to go away. A cat transforms into a Daimon, and the Sailor Guardians face it off. Sailor Moon destroys the Daimon with her Moon Spiral Heart Attack, freeing the cat it was possessing. As Sailor Chibi Moon checks on the girl to make sure she was not hurt, the girl instead points out the injury on Chibi Moon's arm. Sailor Moon turns quickly sensing someone watching, and everyone sees two figures of unfamiliar Sailor Guardians silhouetted in the moonlight.

As the two unknown Sailor Guardians leave, the girl Chibiusa saved uses a mysterious power to heal her wound. She introduces herself as Hotaru Tomoe. Soon after, a still-ailing Hotaru reunites with her father, Professor Souichi Tomoe and his assistant Kaori. Souichi presents her with an amulet he says will ease her pain. Although it works, Hotaru fears her body will eventually give out. As the Sailor Guardians discuss recent events, Kaolinite uses divination to further investigate the "powers of light" that threatens Master Pharaoh 90. She receives the same omen as Hotaru, Mamoru and Rei regarding the gathering of three talismans. While researching Professor Tomoe, Mamoru is approached by Michiru, who informs him that Tomoe was a famous member of the academic community before he was expelled and that the Mugen Academy that he now presides over is rumored to be a training school for sorcerers. She offers him two tickets to her next concert. Observing their interaction from afar, Usagi notices Michiru resembles one of the unidentified Sailor Guardians. She then bumps into Haruka at the arcade. She also notices his resemblance to the second unknown Guardian and questions him on the subject but he denies the accusation. Rei leaves for the mountains to undergo purification training and monitor activities held there by Mugen Academy but is unexpectedly joined by her friends to celebrate her 15th birthday. Makoto later spars in a Judo class with Haruka, who easily defeats her. When chastised by the others for not going easy against a girl, Haruka states that gender is irrelevant. Later that night, Eudial of the Witches 5 holds a ceremony involving several students where she has them offer their life energy, or "Hostes" to Master Pharaoh 90. Rei and Makoto, taking heed of the disturbance, awaken and rush to the site where they transform and confront her. Introducing herself as a member of the Death Busters, Eudial overpowers both of them. After joining the battle, Usagi kills Eudial with her Moon Spiral Heart Attack. Afterwards, she sees one of the unknown Guardians fleeing the scene and rushes after her. Just when Usagi thought she had lost her, the Guardian appears behind her and warns her that she and her friends should stay out of her way. She then kisses Usagi.
30	04	"Infinity 3 Two New Soldiers" "Mugen 3 Futari Nyū Sorujāzu" (無限3 2人 NEW SOLDIERS)				April 25, 2016	—
After kissing Usagi, the mysterious Guardian flees. Later at night, Usagi can't shake the feeling that the Sailor Guardian she met was in fact, Haruka. She, along with the other Guardians, Mamoru and Hotaru, have the same ominous dream regarding the three talismans and the destruction of the city. Usagi meets Haruka again the following day, who presents her with five tickets to Michiru's concert. Usagi and the others agree that attending the concert may be a chance to investigate the Mugen Academy further. Minako also expresses interest in seeing idol Mimi Hanyu who will be performing the same night. The group is unaware that she is actually Mimete, another member of the Witches 5, who informs Kaolinite that she intends to use the concert to gather hosts for Master Pharaoh 90. Later that night, Chibiusa visits Hotaru at her home. She learns that Hotaru has sustained severe injuries resulting from an accident when she was younger. When Hotaru suddenly collapses, Chibiusa uses her Legendary Silver Crystal to ease her pain. Hotaru promises she will not tell anyone about Chibiusa's crystal or her identity as Sailor Chibi Moon. She also confesses that her father is performing some suspicious research, but claims that he is not an evil person and asks Chibiusa to keep it a secret. On her way home, Haruka and Michiru offer Chibiusa a ride in one of their helicopters. During their conversation, Michiru reveals to Chibiusa that her hand mirror is a talisman. The following evening, as Michiru performs, Minako sneak into Mimi Hanyu's concert by using a magical compact from her days as Sailor V to disguise herself as a male Mugen Academy student. There she witness Mimi reveal herself as Mimete as she casts a spell on the crowd. Minako transforms and confronts Mimete, who summons three monsters to attack her. Usagi and the others join the battle and ultimately destroy each of the monsters. Enraged, Mimete attacks Chibiusa. However, before she can land a blow, Mimete is killed by the two mysterious Sailor Guardians, who introduce themselves as Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus.

Usagi and the others question Sailor Uranus and Neptune about their objectives, but Uranus states that she and Neptune are not their allies, nor do they have any intention of working with them. Chibiusa recognizes the hand mirror Neptune carries as one of the talismans and realizes that she is Michiru. The group continues to press the two new Guardians about the nature of the talismans, the premonitions of destruction and the Death Busters but Neptune uses her violin to generate a sonic wave disorienting the group. Uranus then attacks with World Shaking, knocking them unconscious. Later, Luna reveals that the two of them were Guardians who, like Sailor Pluto, had duties unrelated to the others. They were assigned to protect Silver Millennium from afar and were not supposed to interact with them. Artemis is surprised they have reincarnated and suggests it must have happened due to a crisis they are needed for. Usagi and Mamoru have a shared dream later that night regarding the "Deity of Destruction." The following day, Usagi encounters Haruka again. She states that she knows he must be Sailor Uranus because she can recognize the scent of the wind from him. Haruka laments that she is aware of his true identity and when she question where he is male or female, he asks if it actually matters. When Mamoru appears, Haruka departs. Back at Mamoru's apartment, He and Usagi assist Chibiusa on her school project. She intends to make a replica of the "Legendary Holy Grail", which is one of her mother's sacred relics. After the replica is completed, Usagi and Mamoru both confess to feelings of jealousy regarding their interactions with Haruka and Michiru and reconcile. Some time later, Ami decides to take the test for the Mugen Preparatory School, in order to meet Yui Bido, a student from Mugen Academy whose grades always surpass her own. Once meeting Yui, Ami is offered a trial enrollment to become a student of Mugen Academy and she decides to accept in order to infiltrate it. However, Yui, who is actually Viluy of the Witches 5, realizes that Ami is a Sailor Guardian and informs Kaolinite that she intends to turn her into a Hoste. Ami attempts to escape, but is captured by the enemy. Haruka and Michiru intervene to save her. Ami then transforms into Sailor Mercury, and is soon joined by her friends, but their fight is interrupted by Haruka and Michiru. Having exposed themselves to save Ami, Haruka and Michiru transform into Sailor Uranus and Neptune respectively. Haruka then reveals her talisman, the Space Sword, and uses it to destroy Viluy with Space Sword Blaster before she and Michiru flee. Meanwhile, at Mamoru and Furuhata's university, a physics student resembling Sailor Pluto appears, introducing herself as Setsuna Meiou.
