List of Scandal episodes
Scandal is an American political thriller television series created by Shonda Rhimes, which premiered on ABC on April 5, 2012.[1]
Kerry Washington stars as Olivia Pope, a former White House Communications Director who leaves to start her own crisis management firm, Pope and Associates, where she works to keep the secrets and protect the public images of the country's most powerful and elite. On staff at the new firm are fresh-faced lawyer Quinn Perkins (Katie Lowes); smooth talking litigator Harrison Wright (Columbus Short); investigator Abby Whelan (Darby Stanchfield); and computer hacker with a CIA past Huck (Guillermo Diaz). The show also focuses on President of the United States Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn); First Lady Mellie Grant (Bellamy Young); White House Chief of Staff Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry); Vice President and eventual presidential candidate Sally Langston (Kate Burton); U.S. Attorney David Rosen (Joshua Malina); Navy Captain Jake Ballard (Scott Foley); chairwoman Elizabeth North (Portia de Rossi); activist Marcus Walker (Cornelius Smith Jr.); and head of B613 Eli Pope (Joe Morton).
The series debuted in spring 2012.[2] After seven episodes, the series was renewed for a second season on May 11, 2012, for thirteen episodes,[3] but was later ordered to a full season. The show was renewed for a third season on May 10, 2013.[4] Along with other ABC dramas, this season was split into two runs of uninterrupted episodes, the first consisting of ten episodes, and the second, initially set to consist of twelve uninterrupted episodes.[5] Due to Washington's pregnancy, the show only ended up producing eighteen of the originally planned twenty-two episodes. On May 9, 2014, it was announced that the show would return for a fourth season.[6] On May 7, 2015, ABC renewed Scandal for a fifth season, which will consist of 21 episodes.[7] On March 3, 2016, ABC renewed the show for a sixth season.[8]
As of May 5, 2016, 89 episodes of Scandal have aired.
