List of Schwarzesmarken characters

This is a list of characters that appear in Schwarzesmarken, a spinoff of the Muv-Luv Japanese visual novel adapted into an anime. The anime is produced by ixtl and Liden Films^[1] and directed by Tetsuya Watanabe with character design by Shuichi Hara.

666th TSF Sqaudron

Theodor Eberbach (テオドール・エーベルバッハ, Teodōru Eberubahha): Voiced by: Kenichi Suzumura; The main protagonist Schwarzesmarken and a 2nd Lieutenant of the 666th TSF Squadron. He chooses to remain emotionally distant from others to cope with the horrors of war. He bears a deep hatred towards against the Stasi and his captain Irisdina.

Katia Waldheim (カティア・ヴァルトハイム, Katia Varutohaimu): Voiced by: Minami Tanaka; The main female protagonist and a 2nd Lieutenant of the 666th TSF Squadron rearguard flight unit. She is originally from West Germany and came over to East Germany in hopes of uniting the divided country and defeat the BETAs. It is later revealed that her real name is Ursula Strachwitz, the daughter of Alfred Strachwitz, one of the heroes for West Germany in their resistance of the Soviet Union government.

Irisdina Bernhard (アイリスディーナ・ベルンハルト, Airisudīna Berunharuto): Voiced by: Nozomi Yamamoto; The captain of the 666th TSF Squadron. She is a decorated war hero who believes in leading by example. She sold out her brother to the Stasi causing to be looked down at with contempt by her peers.

Gretel Jeckeln (グレーテル・イェッケルン, Gurēteru Iekkerun): Voiced by: Kiyono Yasuno; The political officer of the 666th TSF Squadron. Her role is to monitor the morale of the squadron and ensure that everybody is loyal. As a political officer, she can supersede and countermand orders issued by the squadron command officer. She also has the power to carry out summary executions on deserters and such.

Anett Hosenfeld (アネット・ホーゼンフェルト, Anetto Hōzenferuto): Voiced by: Chika Anzai; 2nd Lieutenant of the 666th TSF Squadron. She despise Theodor believing that he left her and her three best friends to die during their first deployment.

Pham Thi Lan (ファム・ティ・ラン, Famu Ti Ran): Voiced by: Emiri Kato; A pilot of the 666th, serving as Irisdina's second-in-command. A 2nd generation immigrant of Vietnamese descent.

Sylwia Krzasińska (グレーテル・イェッケルン, Shiruvia Kushashinsuka): Voiced by: Michiyo Murase; An aloof pilot of the 666th, hailing from Poland.

Inghild Bronikowski (シルヴィア・クシャシンスカ, Inguhiruto Buronikofusukī): Voiced by: Kiyono Yasuno; A pilot of the 666th TSF Squadron, and a close friend of Anett.

Walter Kruger (ヴァルター・クリューガー, Varutā Kuryūgā): Voiced by: Kenta Miyake; Irisdina's staff officer, who worked his way up from a non-commissioned rank. He assists the Captain in running the 666th TSF Squadron.

Stasi

Beatrix Brehme (ベアトリクス・ブレーメ, Beatorikusu Burēme): Voiced by: Yukari Tamura; The commander of the Stasi TSF unit Werewolf and the main antagonist. She is well known for being a ruthless and brutal huntress of deserters, anti-government dissidents, and emigrants fleeing to the West. She established a strong rivalry with Irisdina as the two were classmates at a military academy, and it eventually developed into an adversarial one.

Heinze Axmann (ハインツ・アクスマン, Hainzu Akusuman): Voiced by: Ken Narita; The commander of the Stasi TSF Guard Force. He is an ambitious and cruel sadist who is willing to exploit the weaknesses of his victims to get his way. He is the one responsible for turning Lise into a Stasi spy through a series of blackmail attempts before Beatrix intervened.

Lise Hohenstein (リィズ・ホーエンシュタイン, Riizu Hōenshutain): Voiced by: Yoshino Nanjō; Theodor's stepsister and a TSF pilot for the 666th Squadron. Theodor believed that she was dead when her family was trying to escape to West Germany. However, she suddenly appeared one day as a new recruit to the squadron. Having joined under suspicious circumstances that everybody suspected that she was a Stasi spy, but Theodor refused to believe it. She then revealed herself to be a Stasi spy and imprisoned most of the squadron.

Erich Schmidt (エーリッヒ・シュミット, Ērihhi Shumitto): The minister of the Stasi and leader of the East Germany. He views East Germany as the front line for defending the Soviet Union and is willing to use nuclear weapons not realizing that they are ineffective against BETAs. He is very distrustful of Beatrix and manipulates her by sending her on suicide missions, but Beatrix realized this and killed him. His real name is Gregory Andropov, special second lieutenant of the first chief directorate of the KGB, and his loyalty lies with the Soviet Union.

West German Army

Joachim Balck (ヨアヒム・ブラック, Yoahimu Burakku): Major of the 51st Tactical Armor Battalion Huckebein.

Circe Steinhoff (キルケ・シュタインホフ, Kiruke Shutainhofu): Voiced by: Manami Numakura; Grand-daughter of a famous West German fighter pilot. She bears a hatred of East Germany in many ways, but after fighting alongside Theodore and the 666th TSF Squadron, her hatred dies out.
