List of Zaildars by Zail

Zail (ज़ैल) was a revenue and administrative unit, extending between two and forty villages, under an officer in charge Zaildar (जैलदार) in the colonial rural administration of Punjab in British India.[1][2]

Below is the incomplete list of Zaildar and Zails, by the states and districts in India and Pakistan.

Bidhwan Jaglan Zail

Bidhwan Jaglan Zail (बिधवान जागलान ज़ैल) was head-quartered in Bidhwan (बिधवान) village and ruled by the Jaglan clan. It covered four villages in erstwhile Loharu State in then Hisar district during the British raj. Currently, these four villages of Bidhwan, Kalali (कलाली), Mandholi Khurd (मंढोली खुर्द) and Mandholi Kalan (मंढोलीकलां)) lie in Bhiwani district.

Saini Zails in Hisar

Phulkiyan-Saini Zail

Phulkiyan-Saini Zail, was head-quartered at Patiala in Patiala State of Phulkian sardars, it was the second largest landlord Zail in terms of land that nobleman owned, in Phulkiyan Riyasat.[3]

Dasuya Zail

Dasuya Zail, was head-quartered at Dasuya in Hoshiarpur district. It had 22 villages.[3]

Hoshiarpur-Saini Zail

Hoshiarpur-Saini Zail, was part of Hoshiarpur district. It had 19 villages.[3]

Chak Bhola Zail

Chak Bhola Zail was head-quartered in Bhola Chak 178 in Baria area.
