List of communities in Manitoba by population

This is a list of the largest communities in Manitoba, according to the 2011 Census of Canada (and Statistics Canada), with populations of 1,000 persons or over. This list excludes all rural municipalities in Manitoba, since they are not considered "urban communities," but includes cities, towns, villages, designated places and local urban districts, and Indian reserves. Note, many of these communities have other bordering communities such as Indian reserves and local urban districts (LUDs) by the same name, that may be considered part of some of the communities listed, but are not included on the list; for example; as of 2011, the Mitchell population centre had a population of 1,136; however, the LUD of Mitchell (pop. 520) is a separate community (according to Statistics Canada) from the Mitchell population centre, and is not included on the list, but may be considered to be part of Mitchell's overall population by some people, although it is not official. This same concept goes for most Indian reserves with multiple parts or divisions of the same community, and other LUDs such as Lorette, Blumenort and Grunthal, to avoid confusion.

Population centres refers to an area with a population of at least 1,000 and a density of 400 or more people per square kilometre.[1]
