List of countries with alcohol prohibition
The following countries have or had comprehensive prohibitions against alcohol. Apart from the Indian states, all the countries and regions that presently ban alcohol have a significant Muslim majority.

Currently, alcohol prohibition is enforced in many Muslim-majority countries and some parts of India.[1]

- Maldives (not including non-Muslims)
- Mauritania (excluding some expat bars)
- Pakistan (not including non-Muslims; excluding Murree beer)
- Saudi Arabia
- Sudan (excluding United Nations and other expat compounds)
- Somalia (excluding United Nations and other expat compounds)
- United Arab Emirates (In the emirate of Sharja; not including non-Muslims)
- India (In the states of Gujarat, Bihar, Kerala, Manipur and Nagaland and in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep)
- Yemen

- Hungarian Soviet Republic - March 21 - August 1 1919 - sale and consumption of alcohol was prohibited.
