The sovereign who is divorced
- Qaboos bin Said al Said, Sultan of Oman. He married his first cousin Sayyida Nawwal bint Tariq Al-Said (born in 1951) in Muscat. The marriage ended in divorce in 1979. She remarried in 2005.[2][3]
The sovereign who is widowed
- Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of Kuwait. He married his second aunt Sheikha Fatuwah bint Salman Al-Sabah (first cousin of his father). She died before the Iraqi invasion to Kuwait on 2 August 1990.
