List of largest mergers and acquisitions
The following tables list the largest mergers and acquisitions in their respective decade. Transactions are given in the dollar value for the year of the merger as well as adjusted for inflation. The largest ever acquisition is the 1999 takeover of Mannesmann by Vodafone Airtouch PLC at $202 billion ($287 billion adjusted for inflation). Pfizer appears in these lists the most times, with four entries.

Notable M&A deals from 2010s include:[18][19] In 2015 Pfizer sort to acquire Allergan, Plc for $160 billion, this deal was abandoned in April 2016 due to new US tax legislation coming into force.[20]
