On December 5, Macri made his first trip as President-elect to Brazil, where he met with President Dilma Roussef in Brasilia. Macri said he chose Brazil as the first trip as President-elect because it is the main commercial partner of Argentina and because the strong ties that both countries have.[1]

During his first participation in the Mercosur Summit, President Macri called for "the prompt release of political prisoners in Venezuela" and warned that the regional bloc "can be no room for political persecution for ideological reasons or illegitimate forecast freedom for thinking differently". He also called for jointly fight against poverty and drug trafficking.[3]

Belgium Belgium Brussels July President Macri will travel in the second half of the year to Brussels for an official visit to the central institutions of the European Union. This was announced by Foreign Minister Susana Malcorra in a press conference shared with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini in Buenos Aires.[7]
