List of rural municipalities in Manitoba
A rural municipality (RM) is a type of incorporated municipality in the Canadian province of Manitoba.[1] Under current legislation, an area must have a minimum population of 1,000 and a density of less than 400 people per square kilometre to incorporate as a rural municipality.[2]
Manitoba has 116 rural municipalities, which had a cumulative population of 259,061 and an average population of 2,233 in the 2011 Census.[3] The province's largest and smallest rural municipalities are the RM of Springfield and the RM of Lakeview with populations of 14,069 and 311 respectively.[3]
