List of tourist sites in Helsinki

Töölö/Tölö district, situated close to the city center, hosts many of Helsinki's tourist attractions.

This is a list of popular tourism sights in Helsinki (Swedish: Helsingfors), the capital of Finland.

• Heureka (actually located in Vantaa (Vanda)) is a science center featuring exhibitions and an IMAX theater.
• Hietaniemi/Sandudd is a popular beach within a walking distance from the downtown.
• Kaivopuisto/Brunnsparken is the most popular park in Helsinki.
• Kasvitieteellinen puutarha/Botaniska trädgården (botanical garden) is worth seeing.
• Kauppatori/Salutorget (The Market Square) is situated in the heart of Helsinki and in the summertime the numerous stands sell all kinds of Finnish crafts and foods. The traditional herring market in October is a particularly popular event, as the fishers from the archipelago sail into the harbour and sell their products, traditional foods and crafts of the Finnish coast.
• Kiasma is the museum of contemporary art, designed by Steven Holl. The museum hosts a number of exhibitions.
• Korkeasaari/Högholmen is an island hosting the Helsinki zoo.
• Linnanmäki/Borgbacken is Helsinki's amusement park.
• Luonnontieteellinen museo/Naturhistoriska museet (Natural History Museum of Helsinki)
• Mannerheim Museum, depicting the life and times of Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim.
• Nuuksio/Noux (located in Espoo (Esbo)) is the piece of wilderness closest to Helsinki. This area is suitable for day trip hiking. There are lots of tiny lakes, rocks, swampss and pine forest.
• The new opera house (Oopperatalo/Operahuset) of the Finnish National Opera, which opened in 1993, is close to the city center in Töölö/Tölö.
• Parliament House (Finnish: Eduskuntatalo, Swedish: Riksdagshuset) is the Finnish Parliament Building.
• Seurasaari/Fölisön is an outdoor museum area. It contains log houses and items collected from various parts of Finland.
• Sibelius-monumentti/Sibeliusmonumentet (The Sibelius Monument), a modernist work by sculptor Eila Hiltunen, memorializes Finnish composer Jean Sibelius and is a popular tourist attraction.
• Spårakoff is a tram converted to a bar; it is easy to recognize in the Helsinki cityscape as it is the bright red color of the Sinebrychoff brewery.
• Suomen kansallismuseo/Finlands nationalmuseum (The National Museum of Finland) presents Finland's history from the stone age to the present and is one of the most popular museums in the city.
• Suomenlinna/Sveaborg is an inhabited sea fortress built on six islands. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and popular with both tourists and locals, who enjoy it as a picturesque picnic site.
• Tarvaspää, the home and atelier of the renowned Finnish painter Akseli Gallen-Kallela, lies further away from the centre, but is certainly worth a visit. The museum has many paintings by one of the central artists of Finland's "Golden era" and a nice café.
• Temppeliaukion kirkko/Tempelplatsens kyrka is an unconventional church built into the Helsinki bedrock, regularly visited by tourists.
• The Uspenski Cathedral is the main Orthodox church in Finland.
