List of songs recorded by Nickelback

The current lineup of Nickelback comprises Ryan Peake, Daniel Adair, Chad Kroeger, and Mike Kroeger.

Nickelback is a Canadian hard rock band formed by vocalist and guitarist Chad Kroeger with guitarist Ryan Peake, bassist Mike Kroeger (Chad's brother), and drummer Brandon Kroeger (Chad and Mike's cousin) in 1995. For the band's first album, 1996's Curb, the lyrics were entirely written by frontman Chad Kroeger, while the music was credited to the full band.[1] The musical compositions of four tracks on the album – "Fly" (the band's first single), "Left", "Where?", and "Window Shopper" – were co-credited to recording engineer Jeff Boyd,[1] who had worked with the band on their debut EP Hesher earlier in the year.[2] For the 1998 follow-up, The State, the lyrics and music were entirely credited to Kroeger and Nickelback, respectively.[3]

After signing with Roadrunner Records and replacing its drummer with Ryan Vikedal, Nickelback released its third studio album Silver Side Up in 2001, which again was credited to Kroeger (lyrics) and Nickelback (music).[4] The album was the band's first to feature a guest appearance from another musician, with Ian Thornley of Big Wreck providing slide guitar on closing track "Good Times Gone".[4] In 2002 the band released its first live video album, Live at Home, which featured a guest appearance from Alice in Chains guitarist and vocalist Jerry Cantrell on the track "It Ain't Like That".[5] Live at Home also featured an acoustic cover of the Big Wreck track "Mistake", written by Ian Thornley.[5] The year also saw the release of the band's first original B-sides, "Learn the Hard Way" and "Yanking Out My...", both on the single "Too Bad";[6] both songs would later appear as bonus tracks on the band's 2003 fourth album, The Long Road.[7] The songwriting on The Long Road was credited in the same way as for Silver Side Up, with the exception of lead single "Someday", the lyrics for which were credited to Chad Kroeger, Ryan Peake, and Mike Kroeger.[7] The "Someday" single also featured an original B-side, entitled "Slow Motion".[8]

After Vikedal departed and was replaced by former 3 Doors Down drummer Daniel Adair, the band released its fifth album All the Right Reasons in 2005, the lyrics for which were credited once again entirely to Chad Kroeger, and the music for which was credited to the new lineup of the band.[9] The album featured a number of guest appearances, including ZZ Top guitarist and vocalist Billy Gibbons on "Follow You Home" and "Rockstar", piano by guitar technician Timmy Dawson on "Savin' Me" and "If Everyone Cared", and a recording of a guitar solo by deceased Pantera and Damageplan guitarist Dimebag Darrell on "Side of a Bullet".[9] A cover version of the Queen track "We Will Rock You" was featured as a B-side to lead single "Photograph".[10] The 2008 follow-up to All the Right Reasons, Dark Horse, featured musical composition credits for first-time Nickelback producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange on the tracks "Something in Your Mouth", "I'd Come for You", "Never Gonna Be Alone", "Shakin' Hands", and "This Afternoon".[11]

The band's seventh album, Here and Now, was the first not to almost exclusively credit the lyrics to Chad Kroeger and the music to Nickelback. For the lyrics, a combination of band members Chad Kroeger, Ryan Peake, Mike Kroeger, and producer Joey Moi, received credits; for the music, all but one of the album's 11 tracks were credited to Chad Kroeger alone (lead single "When We Stand Together", co-composed by Peake, the exception).[12] In 2011 the band also appeared on the ZZ Top tribute album ZZ Top: A Tribute from Friends, contributing a cover of the song "Legs".[13]

Songs

Frontman Chad Kroeger has written or co-written all of the band's material since its formation in 1995.
As a founding member of the band, Ryan Peake has performed guitars and backing vocals on every Nickelback release.
Mike Kroeger, the brother of frontman Chad, has played bass for Nickelback since its formation and is co-credited on many of the band's songs.
Daniel Adair joined the band in 2005, replacing long-term drummer Ryan Vikedal, and has subsequently performed on every Nickelback album.
ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons performed on "Follow You Home" and "Rockstar" from 2005's All the Right Reasons.
A recording of a previously unreleased guitar solo by Dimebag Darrell appears on the tribute song "Side of a Bullet" from All the Right Reasons.
A cover version of "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting", originally by Elton John, was released on deluxe editions of 2003's The Long Road.
In 2005 the band released a cover of "We Will Rock You" by Queen, written by Brian May, as a B-side to "Photograph".
In 2011 the band contributed a cover of "Legs", written by band members Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill, and Frank Beard, to the tribute album ZZ Top: A Tribute from Friends.
Rapper Flo Rida is featured on "Got Me Runnin' Round", from the band's 2014 album No Fixed Address.
