2006

 Spain[2] The trip took place on 25-28 of September. President Cavaco Silva visited with his Spanish counterpart King Juan Carlos I and his wife, Queen Sofía.

2007

 India[3] The trip took place on 11-17 of January. President Cavaco Silva visited with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

 United States of America The trip took place on 19-23 of June. During this visit, President Cavaco Silva plans to open an exhibition concerning Portugal's role in the discovery and convergence of diverse cultures, and to contact some Portuguese communities on the North American Eastern Seaboard, including the city of Fall River, Massachusetts whose Portuguese-descended population (43.9 percent at the 2000 census) is the highest of any municipality in the United States. Fall River features a replica of "The Gates of the City of Ponta Delgada" or "Portas da Cidade" in Portuguese.

 Chile[4] The trip took place on 6-10 of November. President Cavaco Silva met with President Michelle Bachelet.

2008

 Jordan[5] The trip took place on 16-18 of February. President Cavaco Silva met with King Abdullah II and Queen Rania.

 Brazil[6] The trip took place on 6-9 of March. President Cavaco Silva visited with his Brazilian counterpart President Lula da Silva.

 Mozambique[7] The trip took place on 24-26 of March. President Cavaco Silva met with President Armando Guebuza.

 Poland[8] The trip took place on 1-4 of September. President Cavaco Silva met with Polish President Lech Kaczyński.

 Slovakia[9] The trip took place on 4 & 5 of September. President Cavaco Silva visited with President Ivan Gašparovič.

2009

 Germany[10] The trip took place on 3-6 of March. President Cavaco Silva visited with his German counterpart President Horst Köhler.

 Turkey[11] The trip took place on 12-15 of May. President Cavaco Silva met with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Erdoğan and President Abdullah Gül.

 Austria[12] The trip took place on 23-26 of July. President Cavaco Silva met with the former Austrian Chancellor Franz Vranitzky and President Heinz Fischer.

2010

 Czech Republic[13] The trip took place on 14-16 of April. President Silva met with President Václav Klaus. The trip had to be extended due to the air traffic disruptions because of the eruption(s) of Eyjafjallajökull.

 Cape Verde[14] This state visit to the Portuguese-speaking country took place on July 4–7. President Silva of Portugal met with his counterpart of Cape Verde, President Pedro Pires. Cavaco Silva also met with the Prime Minister of Cape Verde.

 Angola[15] On his first state visit to the Portuguese-speaking country of Angola, President Silva made a strong effort to speak to business owners and to strengthen relations between Portuguese and Angolan businesses. The trip lasted from July 18 until 23. Cavaco Silva met with the President of Angola José Eduardo dos Santos along with many of the governors of the different regions of Angola. This trip is expected to be the last state visit that Cavaco Silva will make during his first term of the presidency.

2013

 Sweden (1-3 October, 2013)[16] During this visit, President Cavaco Silva was welcomed by the King and Queen of Sweden, and visited a series of technological, economic and cultural enterprises.
