The Live 2016 tour is the eleventh concert tour by Canadian singer Celine Dion. The tour is organized to support Dion's upcoming French-language studio album, due to be released in 2016. It is Dion's first dedicated Francophone tour since the Sans attendre Tour in 2013. With only 26 shows currently scheduled, it will be one of the shortest tours of Dion's career.
Background
On November 9, 2015, Dion's official website announced six shows in the province of Quebec: four in Montreal and two in Quebec City. Due to incredibly high demand, six additional shows have been added in Montreal, and two in Quebec City, totaling fourteen North American dates.[1][2] On November 11, two shows in Paris were announced, followed by two in Antwerp the following day.[3][4] Due to high demand on the first day of general ticket sales for the Paris shows, four more dates were added.[5] An additional date in Quebec City and two extra shows in Paris were announced in March 2016.[6][7] It is understood that this tour will only include francophone countries, as Dion will not be releasing her next English album until 2017.
Following the death of Dion's husband, René Angelil, it was announced that the upcoming French album would not be released until later in 2016. However, it is believed that the upcoming concert series will still feature new songs from this album.
On 12 April 2016, Dion announced she would be performing a benefit concert at the newly-built Amphithéâtre Cogeco in Trois-Rivières, Québec on 30 August 2016. The show will benefit Fondation Céline Dion. As of now, the show will feature the same songs. This will be Dion's only outdoor venue concert of the tour.
