Llan the Sorcerer, a fictional character in the Marvel Universe, is an ancient evil who has been an enemy of Alpha Flight.

Fictional character biography

In Llan's most recent appearance on Earth, he possessed accountant Dexter Rayne, and forced him to conduct a sacrificial ritual returning Llan to life on Earth. He then attacked Talisman and Heather Hudson.[1] He transported Alpha Flight to an alien dimension, defeated them and abandoned them there.[2] Though a human pawn, he then attacked Montreal, and battled Gamma Flight and Alpha Flight.[3] During the events of the "Acts of Vengeance," he recruited Nekra, the Scorpion, the Asp, and the Owl to battle Alpha Flight and Gamma Flight.[4] His defeat and banishment by the original Talisman and the Tribe of the Moon was recounted.[5] He then framed Alpha Flight for his crimes, and fomented a battle between Alpha Flight and Gamma Flight. He opened the Gateway of Night, unleashing his forces on the Earth.[6] Alongside his demon forces, he battled Alpha Flight, Gamma Flight, and the Canadian Army.[7] He was ultimately defeated when Talisman and Doctor Strange opened the Gateway of Day, releasing the armies of the light. He levied curses on Alpha Flight before being banished for another 10,000 years.[8]

Powers and abilities

Llan had a virtually unlimited ability to manipulate the forces of magic for a variety of effects, including inter-dimensional teleportation, size transformations, time travel, transmutations, energy manifestations such as powerful concussive blasts, telepathy, and illusion-casting. He possesses superhuman intellect, strength, stamina, durability, agility, and reflexes.

The Sorcerer can only manifest himself on Earth during a certain planetary conjunction which occurs once every 10,000 years, and then cannot initiate any action against the Earth unless first attacked by the forces of light, usually personified by the Talisman.

Llan possesses a vast knowledge of magical lore.
