London Holmes (born March 27, 1991), better known by his stage name London on da Track, is an American record producer, songwriter and former rapper from Atlanta, Georgia.[1] He is a frequent collaborator of fellow Atlanta rapper Young Thug and has also worked with Waka Flocka Flame, Rich Homie Quan, Gucci Mane, T.I., Travis Porter, Rich Kidz[2] and 50 Cent.[3]

Musical career

London first started out as a rapper when he was sixteen years old in a group called Dem Guyz. They used to download beats on SoundClick for 99 cents, they had to exclusive rights for $100 but couldn't afford it. He started to make beats for Dem Savages because he already knew how to use the piano from playing in churches. Then he started to download programs online that put the two together. His team was associated with the Rich Kidz and they didn't have beats either so he made beats for them. Soon, others started asking him for beats and wasn't charging them, he just wanted to get his name out there. The first song he produced to be heard on the radio was "Pieon" by Rich Kidz and it motivated London to keep going. In 2008 or 2009, he recorded his first collaboration with Young Thug, "Curtains", back in his house. He didn't stop giving out beats until his first label deal with Cash Money Records.[4]

In August 2014, American rapper and Cash Money Records chief executive officer (CEO) Bryan "Birdman" Williams, called London "the best producer in the business, as we speak today".[5] London's frequent collaborator, Atlanta-based rapper Young Thug has stated London is his favorite producer to work with and will become "the greatest producer ever".[5] Complex included him on their 2013 list of "25 New Producers To Watch For".[1] In August 2014, three singles, produced by London on da Track, charted on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time, with "Lifestyle" at 16, "About the Money" at 42, and "Hookah" at 85.[2]

Personal life

Holmes's mother was an aspiring model when she became pregnant with him. She planned to do a show in London but couldn't go because of her pregnancy. She expected this event to be a breakthrough in her career, so she named London after the city in which the event was to take place. London moved to Buffalo in 2004 where he stayed with his relatives. He attended Maritime High School, London would be seen making beats on the desk during class with his friends.[4]
