Lord Ivar Alexander Michael Mountbatten, DL (born 9 March 1963) is the younger son of the 3rd Marquess of Milford Haven and Janet Mountbatten, Marchioness of Milford Haven (formerly Janet Bryce). He is the younger brother of the 4th Marquess of Milford Haven, and a direct descendant of Catherine the Great[1] and Alexander Pushkin.[2]
Born in London, Lord Ivar was educated at Gordonstoun School and graduated from Middlebury College, Vermont with a B.A. degree.[3]
Lord Ivar married Penelope Anne Vere Thompson (born 17 March 1966, Salisbury, Wiltshire), daughter of Colin Thompson, of Old Manor House, Sutton Veny, Warminster, co. Wiltshire, and his wife Rosemary Vere Edwardes,[4] on 23 April 1994 in Clare, Suffolk. They divorced in 2011. They have three daughters:
- Ella Louise Georgina Mountbatten (born 20 March 1996)
- Alexandra Nada Victoria Mountbatten (born 8 May 1998)
- Louise Xenia Rose Mountbatten (born 30 July 2002)
They lived at Bridwell Park, in the village of Uffculme, Devon, where he became a chicken farmer.
Lord Ivar is one of the godfathers of Lady Louise Windsor (born 2003), the daughter of Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex and his wife The Countess of Wessex.[5]
