Lough Yganavan and Lough Nambrackdarrig

Lough Yganavan and Lough Nambrackdarrig (Irish: Loch Gaineamháin agus Loch na mBreac Dearg) are two lakes of ecological importance in County Kerry, Ireland. They are included in a Special Area of Conservation of 271.57 ha, which protects land in private ownership and state-owned nature reserve.[1] The habitats include fixed dunes, a type of machair.

Lough Nambrackdarrig and the southern half of Lough Yganavan were designated as National Nature Reserves in 1988 (areas in ha: 25.3 & 3.9).[2]

Fauna

This is one of the areas in which the rare Kerry Slug and Natterjack Toad are known to occur.
