Lucien Paiement (16 October 1932 – 23 January 2013) was a doctor, municipal politician and owner of racehorses in the Canadian province of Quebec.[1][2] He served as mayor of Laval from 1973 to 1981. He also operated the Semalu horse stable in Saint-André-d'Argenteuil, Quebec,[2] one of whose horses was Semalu Express.[3]
He was also chairman of the board of the Cité de la santé hospital in Laval, which opened in 1978 while he was mayor.[4]
A short street near the Montmorency metro station in Laval, rue Lucien-Paiement, is named after him.[5]
Paiement died after a long illness at a palliative care facility in 2013 at the age of 80.[6]
