Ludwig Meister (14 December 1919 – 26 November 2011) was a German Luftwaffe night fighter ace and recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross (German: Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes) during World War II. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. During his career he claimed 39 aerial victories, 38 of them at night.[Notes 1]
