Lumigon is a Danish technology company based in Copenhagen that produces high-end smartphones running on Google Android operating systems. Lumigon is the first company in Denmark to design, develop and manufacture its own smartphones and accessories. All Lumigon products, features, apps and user interface are designed and developed in-house in the company’s Copenhagen headquarters.

Lumigon designs are inspired by the functionalistic philosophies of Danish industrial design and architecture that started in the mid-20th century: simplicity, minimalism and craftsmanship.

Telenor Denmark was the first operator to introduce Lumigon into their product line. Telenor Denmark now sells Lumigon products nationwide in their Danish shops and online outlets, as well as through CBB and Bibob, who are also owned by Telenor.

History

Lumigon was founded in 2009 by Danish IT entrepreneur Lars Gravesen,[1] who saw a market need for smartphones that combined creative design and quality with well thought out, useful everyday functions. Lars Gravesen was already a veteran of several extremely successful software startups such as DanTeam, Zyb and Excitor.

Lars Gravesen’s extensive experience was undoubtedly a determining factor in Lumigon getting its first phone to market – the T1 – within the first year of the company’s existence. The T1 was equipped with Bang & Olufsen audio and several other unique features such as a built-in universal remote control.[2] Lumigon followed up with the T2, which was launched in February 2010. The current model is the T2 HD, which was released in March 2014 and was well received by the press and public alike.

Lumigon and Hitman

Hitman is a computer and console game originally conceived and developed by the Danish gaming company IO Interactive. Launched in 2000, total Hitman franchise sales have topped 10 million. A 2007 film, Hitman, grossed over $100 million worldwide.

On February 5, 2013, it was reported that the film series was being rebooted with the title Hitman: Agent 47, starring Paul Walker and directed by Aleksander Bach. Following Paul Walker’s tragic death on November 30, 2013, Rupert Friend replaced Walker as the main character. The cast also includes Zachary Quinto, Thomas Kretschmann, Dan Bakkedahl and Ciarán Hinds.

The Hitman: Agent 47 production company, Twentieth Century Fox, chose Lumigon for Agent 47’s phone. Hitman: Agent 47 was first released in North America in the summer of 2015 and grossed over $8 million in its opening weekend. Although by no means a guarantee of success, product placement in a Hollywood blockbuster film means global exposure and international endorsement, which could have a significant effect on Lumigon as a company.

Products

Since the company’s foundation in 2009, Lumigon has launched three smartphones: the T1, T2 and T2 HD. Lumigon also designs and develops its own accessories such as headsets, docking stations and chargers.[3]

T1

The first Lumigon smartphone was the T1, which was launched in February 2010.[4] Like all subsequent Lumigon phones, the T1 ran on the Google Android OS. It also had special Lumigon P-GUI software. Distinctive features included Bang & Olufsen's ICEpower technology for enhanced audio quality and built-in universal remote control, which enabled the recording of any command from another infrared remote control.

T2

The T2 was launched in February 2012. It had a new design and upgraded technical specifications. The T2 was built in stainless steel and had a Corning Gorilla Glass front screen. The phone was powered by a 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and ran on Android 4.0. Features included a 3.8" high-resolution screen, an 8-megapixels camera with a flash on the back, and a camera on the front for video calls. The T2 also had the Bang & Olufsen ICEpower sound chip.

T2 HD

In March 2014 Lumigon released the T2 HD. The phone is made with stainless steel, has a damage-resistant glass front screen and is dust- and water-resistant. Screen size is now up to 4.3", with a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. The T2 HD has a 13-megapixels back camera with a flash and BSI sensor, and a 2.4-megapixels front camera with a front flash.[5] The T2 HD runs on Android 4.4. Unique Lumigon features and apps include Behaviour Control, ActionKey, Vault, universal remote control, Sunlight Mode, Glove Mode, QuickTouch, and Hand-wave.[6]

H2 Headset

The H2 headset was launched in November 2015. The headset has a stylish design and the metal parts are crafted from stainless steel. It’s available in different colours and in an exclusive 24-karat gold edition. [7]
