Luwo

The Luwo (also called Jur Chol, and luo Jur) are an ethnic group in western parts of South Sudan in Jur River County and Wau County Counties of Western Bahr el Ghazal State and in Aweil Center County of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State. They are part of a larger group of ethnolinguistically related Luo peoples of East Africa. They are considered part of the larger ethnic cluster known as the Nilotic.[1]

Population

A census conducted in 1983 puts their numbers down at 80,000.[2] Another source has their total population at 145,000.[1]
