The Luxembourg Commercial Internet eXchange (stylised as LU-CIX) is a carrier and neutral internet exchange point (IX) located in Luxembourg.

History

LU-CIX was founded in February 2009[1] under the initiative on cross-industry players. These members (listed below) keep running the technical backend requested for LU-CIX to provide its services portfolio.

LU-CIX gathers together national and international telecommunications operators, data centre operators, ISPs and online businesses.[2]

LU-CIX is a member of Euro-IX (European Internet Exchange Association).

LU-CIX' president is Marco HOUWEN.[3]

Mission

LU-CIX has been created to support the development of the Internet industry in the heart of Europe and increase the attractiveness of Luxembourg as an ICT Hub in the middle of the so-called "Golden Ring".[4]

Its philosophy is based on a strong neutrality concept.

To carry out these missions, LU-CIX organises the Luxembourg Internet Days,[5] an event that brings ICT professionals together for conferences and exhibitors.[6] In 2015, the Luxembourg Internet Days will take place on December, 7 & 8.[7]

Infrastructure

LU-CIX is hosted in 8 data centers, PoPs, across the country to facilitate the membership of a majority of Internet related players.

It also leverages strong partnerships with other IX in Europe[8] (ECIX & FranceIX[9]).
