Lydd Town F.C. are an English association football club based in Lydd, Kent. The club formed in 1885, playing locally until they entered the Kent County Football League in 1959. The club's most successful period came in 1989–94 when they won the league in five successive seasons. Despite falling down the Kent County League system in the 2000s, the club were successful in their application to join the Kent Invicta Football League for its inaugural 2011–12 season.

History

Lydd Town Football Club was established in 1885 and entered the South Eastern (Ashford) League.[5] Their first silverware came in 1909–10 when they won the Rye Charity Cup.[5] in 1921, the club changed its colours from blue and white to green and red.[5] For the 1959–60 season the Lydd Town entered the Kent County Football League Premier Division East, winning the title in 1969–70 and 1970–71.[6] Between 1989 and 1994 the club won the league five times in a row.[6] However, due to a restructuring of the Kent County League system, the first three were in the Senior Division east, and the final two were in Division One East.[5] During this time the Lydders also won several les Leckie Cups.[6] They were eventually promoted to the Premier Division for the 1994–95 season, and the following season they finished runners-up in both the league and the Inter-Regional Cup.[5][6] In the 2005–06 season, they finished bottom in the Kent County League Premier Division and were relegated to the Kent County League Division One East. In 2008–09 they finished bottom of this division and found themselves in Division Two East.[7] After winning Division Two East, Lydd Town were promoted back to Division One East.[6] The club was accepted into the newly formed Kent Invicta Football League for the inaugural 2011–12 season.[8] Lydd Town finished in sixth place in the 2012–13 season.

Colours

Lydd Town's colours are green and red shirts, with green shorts and red socks.[2] Their away kit is blue and yellow shirts, with blue shorts and socks.[2]

Grounds

Lydd Town play their home games at The Lindsey Field, Dengemarsh Road, Lydd, Kent, TN29 9JH.

Lydd Town's first ground was The Rype.[5] They moved to The Lindsay field on the outskirts of town for the 1999–2000 season.[5]

Squad

Lydd are managed by David Smith, in his second spell as manager of the club. Smith was the club captain during the 1990s.

Honours

Lydd Town has won eight league championships and thirteen cups in its history.[5][6]
