History
Lydd Town Football Club was established in 1885 and entered the South Eastern (Ashford) League.[5] Their first silverware came in 1909–10 when they won the Rye Charity Cup.[5] in 1921, the club changed its colours from blue and white to green and red.[5] For the 1959–60 season the Lydd Town entered the Kent County Football League Premier Division East, winning the title in 1969–70 and 1970–71.[6] Between 1989 and 1994 the club won the league five times in a row.[6] However, due to a restructuring of the Kent County League system, the first three were in the Senior Division east, and the final two were in Division One East.[5] During this time the Lydders also won several les Leckie Cups.[6] They were eventually promoted to the Premier Division for the 1994–95 season, and the following season they finished runners-up in both the league and the Inter-Regional Cup.[5][6] In the 2005–06 season, they finished bottom in the Kent County League Premier Division and were relegated to the Kent County League Division One East. In 2008–09 they finished bottom of this division and found themselves in Division Two East.[7] After winning Division Two East, Lydd Town were promoted back to Division One East.[6] The club was accepted into the newly formed Kent Invicta Football League for the inaugural 2011–12 season.[8] Lydd Town finished in sixth place in the 2012–13 season.
