Márcio Miguel da Costa Fernandes (born 18 May 1983) is a Paralympic athlete set to represent Cape Verde at the 2012 Summer Paralympics.[1] He was born in Portugal to Cape Verdean parents. He lost his leg in a car accident at age 10. He is the first Cape Verdean athlete to participate . At aged 16 Marcio went to jail for killed a security. Marcio Fernandes spent 8 years in jail. This is the main reason he doesn't have Portuguese nacionality.
