MAPO

MiG MAPO or just MAPO (abbreviated for: Moscow Aircraft Production Organisation) is a major Russian state-owned military aircraft manufacturer. It was formed in January 1996 by decree of President Boris Yeltsin. Comprising 20 leading military and civil aircraft-building plants. Today MAPO designs, produces and promotes advanced aviation systems and armaments and also offers maintenance, repair and modernisation services. MAPO headquarters is located in Moscow, and the overall workforce of the company's plants exceeds 60,000 employees.

The President of MIG MAPO is Vladimir Kuzmin.

Most of the firms are owned by the state, but some are still privately owned. MAPO merged with rival state company Sukhoi in 2006.
