MBO Partners offers a business operating platform designed to support the solo-practitioner or a multi-person consulting practice (whether as an incorporated business or unincorporated group). By operating as a business within the MBO Partners corporate entity, professional consultants are able to provide their services without the need to start a new corporate entity, obtain authorization to do business state by state, hire legal and accounting professionals, or deal with administrative tasks including billing, cash collections, expense management, accounting and contract administration. MBO Partners also offers its consultant customers access to business insurance, workers compensation, payroll administration, tax payments, health benefits, life insurance, and disability insurance.
MBO Partners also has a Business-to-Business offering, called Enterprise Solutions, that offers large organizations a service to refer its independent contractors to the MBO Enterprise Solutions team whereby they provide a single system of administrating the client’s many individual contractors and micro-service providers.
The program also enables organizations to build their own pre-qualified pools of talent teams that can be called upon for services as needed. MBO Enterprise Solutions offers the MBO Partners MBO Exec service to those qualified self-employed professionals who may wish to have MBO Partners as their operating platform for all their professional service business operations across all of their clients. Thecompany also offers its MBO Sub service to qualified small company service providers and its MBO Staff service to hourly staff workers.
History
Founded in 1986, MBO Partners is a privately held Virginia corporation. The company is more than 90% employee-owned and has experienced enrollment growth of more than 40% year over year [1] Formerly operated as MyBizOffice, MBO Partners today serves tens of thousands of consultants and hundreds of the world's largest organizations.
Services
- Business-to-Consultant Services
- MBO Partners uses a proprietary system that can handle tax, expense, benefit, and payment and contract management for independent contractors and consultants with the dedicated support of a business manager. The program has dedicated operating units so that independent contractors have access to solutions to reduce administration, navigate regulatory issues and improve efficiencies. Users also have access to tools and trained professionals to help manage their careers and clients.[2]
- Services are offered at three separate levels: MBO Exec, MBO Sub and MBO Staff.
- MBO Exec offers consultants an alternative to self incorporation, providing services for invoicing, collections, reporting, billable and non-billable expense reimbursement, business and medical insurances, financial management, tax withholding, payroll and contract review and negotiation.
- MBO Sub provides direct access for small qualified consulting firms to work with their enterprise clients by documenting regulatory criteria so payments can be maintained through their own legal entities.
- MBO Staff is a payrolling service for contract-based workers who are new to working as an independent contractor.[3]

- For businesses that hire independent consultants, MBO Partners has a subsidiary called Enterprise Solutions that provides independent contractor aggregation and engagement. Enterprise clients of MBO Partners include the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID),[4] and Levi Strauss & Co.[5]
