Middle East Film and Comic Con
The Middle East Film and Comic Con (MEFCC), the first and largest popular culture festival in the region is returning for its fifth anniversary on the 7th to 9th April 2016, promising an even bigger spectacle than its highly successful 2015 event at the Dubai World Trade Centre that attracted over 50,000 fans.
Targeting more than 70,000 visitors from across the Middle East and beyond in 2016, MEFCC is now one of the most talked about events in the region and is a showcase of both regional and international entertainment and popular culture including some of the world’s biggest brands in Film, TV, Sci-Fi, Animation, Manga, Comics, Collectibles and more.
Maintaining its objectives of building a platform for regional talent, encouraging entrepreneurship and connecting fans with creators and companies while bridging the gap between cultures and promoting the region to the wider world, the event and its supporting projects has become a landmark in the regional events calendar.
Since 2012, the MEFCC has also hosted numerous stars and fans have had the opportunity to meet actors such as William Shatner, Gillian Anderson, Hayley Atwell, John Rhys Davies, Sean Astin, Seth Green and Jason Momoa as well as comics creators like Charles Soule, Matt Hwkins, Masami Suda, James O’Barr and Humberto Ramos to name a few.
History
The convention was founded in April 2012 by a Dubai-based events management and communications agency ExtraCake PRA and The Alliance.
MEFCC 2012
The first edition of MEFCC featured guests such as Jason Momoa, Laurie Holden, John Rhys-Davies, Luciana Carro, and Mark Sheppard among others.[1] The exhibitors included Marvel Comics, Diamond Distributors, Xpanse CGI etc.
MEFCC 2013
Back again with its second event in April 2013 the Middle East Film and Comic Con hosted another successful event with over 20,000 fans from across the region in attendance [2] and media coverage across TV, Print & Online media. The event featured international guests such as Sean Astin, Alan Tudyk, Warwick Davis, Ioan Gruffudd, Manu Bennett, Max Landis and voice over actors Yuri Lowenthal and Tara Platt.
MEFCC 2014
In 2014, anticipating a greater attendance, the organisers moved the convention from its original venue in Mina Seyahi to the Dubai International Exhibition and Conference Centre building, Dubai World Trade Centre. Additionally, the event expanded from two to a three-day event (from Thursday to Saturday), where the first day was exclusive for VIP and student group attendees.
MEFCC 2015
Back for their fourth year, MEFCC attracted more than 50,000 fans setting the bar higher than ever. MEFCC 2014 featured guests the likes of, Gillian Anderson, Hayley Atwell, William Shatner, Angelica Bridges, Caitlin Glass, Kelly Hu, Sam J Jones, Max Landis, Vic Mignogna, Bryce Papenbrook, Clive Standen, and Miltos Yerolemou.
MEFCC 2016
MEFCC will celebrate their fifth anniversary in 2016, promising their audience a bigger, better and crazier show than ever. This year's celebrities so far are Veronica Taylor and Christopher Lloyd. In addition to that the god father of comic books,atan Lee wwillwbe appearing for a Q&A session with his fans via a live video.
