PT MNC Investama Tbk (IDX: BHIT) is an Indonesian investment company.
History
PT MNC Investama Tbk was established in Surabaya on 2 November 1989 by Hary Tanoesoedibjo. The company initially focus solely on capital-market related activities. It moved its headquarters to Jakarta in 1990. The Company’s relocation to Jakarta brought greater opportunities to develop the business in line with the evolving capital market.
In 1994, the Company expanded the scope of its business to include securities trading and brokerage, investment advisory, investment manager, underwriter, origination and syndication, financial advisory and research services, as well as mergers and acquisitions, followed by the launch of mutual fund products. The trust demonstrated by the customers convinced the Company to list its stocks on the Jakarta Stock Exchange and the Surabaya Stock Exchange (now merged into the Indonesia Stock Exchange) through an Initial Public Offering in 1997.
In the aftermath of the Indonesian financial crisis of 1997, the company was able to acquire PT Bimantara Citra, a holding company formerly owned by Indonesian President Suharto's son Bambang Trihatmodjo. Amongst PT Bimantara Citra's holdings include the ownership of RCTI, one of the biggest private television network in Indonesia. With the acquisition of PT Bimantara Citra (later renamed PT Global Mediacom Tbk), PT MNC Investama Tbk has grown to become the largest investment company throughout Indonesia owning business activities in various lines of business. Numerous subsidiaries are owned which cover a wide array and various business sectors, among others the sectors of Media and Financial Services and Investment Portfolios. Several subsidiaries within PT MNC Investama Tbk have also established themselves as public companies.[1]
MNC Group plans to spend billions of dollars to expand its property and infrastructure assets MNC Land has been acquiring a series of resort projects, including the Lido Resort and Bali Nirwana Resort, both previously owned by the Bakrie Group. MNC Land has announced plans on a mega-project worth more than Rp 10 trillion, including an integrated entertainment center in Lido, Sukabumi.
It is also buying the majority stake in Bali Nirwana from Pratama Prima Investama, a unit of the Bakrie Group. Bali Nirwana is the operator of a tourism complex in Tanah Lot, Bali. The Bakrie Group has been selling some of its assets to pay off creditors and re-purchase its crown jewel coal miner Bumi Resources from London-listed Bumi. MNC Land is also involved in some property businesses.
It is building MNC Media Tower in Central Jakarta, an integrated complex for its media operations, which will cost Rp 1.96 trillion.The company also plans to inject capital to support the activities of its units, including Swarna Citra Sentosa, which is building MNC Tower Surabaya at a cost of Rp 138 billion.
Another property unit, Investasi Hasil Sejahtera, recently built The East residences and the Oakwood serviced apartments — both in Mega Kuningan, South Jakarta — and the Lotte Shopping Avenue retail arcade in neighboring Kuningan, South Jakarta.

1989

- PT Global Mediacom (MCOM) conducted Initial Public Offering/IPO.
1997
- The Company issued Initial Public Offering.
1999
- The Company focused on investment business and became Investment Company.
- The Company transferred securities business to PT Bhakti Capital (BCAP) and PT Bhakti Asset Management.
2001
- BCAP issued initial public offering.
2003
- BCAP became holding company for financial services sector, MCOM set up MNC as holding company for content-based media.
2004
- PT Bhakti Securities was formally established, securities business activities were transferred to PT Bhakti Securities.
2007
- The Company officially held 20% shares of PT MNC Sky Vision (MSKY), MNC issued initial public offering, MCOM acquired 51% shares of MSKY.
2010
- The Company entered into energy and natural resources business, BCAP acquired UOB Life Sun Assurance and changed its name to PT MNC Life Assurance (MNC Life), MCOM increased its stake in MSKY to become 75.4%
2011
- Rebranding of the Company’s subsidiaries in financial services sector to MNC Securities, MNC Asset Management and MNC Finance and changed its name to PT MNC Asuransi Indonesia.
- BCAP acquired PT Jamindo General Insurance (MNC Insurance).
2012
- MSKY issued IPO.
- Change the name of PT Bhakti Capital Indonesia Tbk to PT MNC Kapital Indonesia Tbk.
2013
- The Company entered into property business by acquiring shares of PT MNC Land Tbk with total shareholding of 26.23%.
- Changed the name of PT Bhakti Investama Tbk to PT MNC Investama Tbk.
