Festos Palace is a Ro-Pax ferry, built in 2001 at the Sestri Ponente shipyards by Fincantieri and it is owned by Minoan Lines. It can hold up to 2,500 passengers and up to 700 cars, it has 758 cabins for passengers and 742 airseats for passengers. It has four 4x Wärtsilä 16V46C diesel engines[1] with a combined power of 67,517 kW[2] and it can reach speed up to 31,6 knots.[3][4][5]
It is named after the Minoan palace at the city of Phaistos as its sister ship Knossos Palace. The cabins have telephone, bathroom, TV set and the cabins are soundproof. It has an internet cafe, ATM machines and a pool on the top (open only at summer).[6]
Route
Festos Palace is serving the route Piraeus - Heraklio, except for some rare cases in which it replaces another ship of Minoan Lines.
Accidents and incidents
April 3 of 2013, Festos Palace hit the Heraklion port dock after high winds and waves pushed the ship to the dock. The ship needed a tug boat in order to dock properly. No injuries were reported.[7][8]
