M. K. Hume

M. K. Hume, (born in 1948) in Ipswich, Queensland, is the written pen-name of Marylin Hume, an Australian author of historical novels set around King Arthur and Merlin. Her novels have been acclaimed for their rich descriptiveness and historical realism.[1]

Biography

Hume graduated as a teacher of Art and Ancient History in 1967 and started teaching. While teaching, she studied university courses as a remote student in University of Queensland[2] in English and Ancient History. In 1996, Hume entered a writing competition for historical romance conducted by the Random House Publishing Group under the sponsorship of a women's magazine. Hume wrote a novel based on her family history.[3] The novel won second prize from a massive field of recognised authors, and she won $5,000. Having an idea for Arthur novels through most of her life, Hume left the Queensland Education Department, and started writing. She lives in Brisbane, Queensland though she travels to Europe for research and inspiration.[2]
