Madahar are mainly found in the Punjab state of India, though some of them are found in the states of Rajasthan and Haryana as well.
History
Madahars trace their roots to the Caucasian region of central Asia. It is believed that they came to India around 3000 BC and settled in the regions Sindh and Punjab of Pakistan and Punjab of India. Since this area was situated at the frontier of ancient India, therefore Madahars had fought many battles against the invading looters coming to India. Madahars were a prominent part of Guru Gobind Singh's army .
Distribution
Most of their villages are situated in Malwa region of the present day Punjab of India. Some of their villages are Gosslaan, Ballamgarh, Amargarh, Ghanaur, Bamaal, Jahangir, Jattimajra, Badrukhan, Bhadalwad, Issi, Kakarwal and Dhuri Town in Distt. Sangrur, Latour in Distt. Fatehgarh Sahib. Madahars are also found in Kaithal district of Haryana. In Punjab of Pakistan mostly peoples belong to MADAHAR FAMILY are MUSLIMS. And a lot villages of MADAHAR like Distt. Faislabad, guranwala, Bahawalnagar,some are of Lahore like mahala (street) madahar. There are many Madahar villages in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan which are yet to be documented.
