Madi, Chitwan

Madi (माडी नगरपालिका) is a municipality in Chitwan District of Nepal. It is the fifth municipality in the district. Basantapur was the major town of the former Village Development Committee that was incorporated into Madi. It is adjacent to Chitwan National Park, and serves as a gateway to the park. This municipality has been formed by cabinet dated 2071-01-28(BS). There was four village development committee before it. These was Ayodhyapuri(In Neplali अयोध्यापुरी), Kalyanpur(In Nepali कल्याणपुर), Gardi(In Nepli गर्दी)and Bagauda(In Nepali बघौडा)From east to west,and south to north Madi Municipality is surrounded forest.In North direction there is Chitwan National Park, the first national park of Nepal.
