The Magazine seen from the west
The Magazine Gateway (aka The Magazine) is a Grade I listed building in Leicester, built circa 1410 as a gate into the Newark and Leicester Castle.[1]
It acquired its present name during the English Civil War when it was used for the storage of munitions.
De Montfort University has built a new Business and Law School next to the building. In 2001 pedestrianisation of the area was completed, connecting the Magazine to the Newark.
