Malaba, Kenya is a town in Teso North Sub-County, Busia County, Western Province, on Kenya's western border with Uganda.
Location
The town is located on the main Nairobi-Kampala highway, approximately 477 kilometres (296 mi), by road, west of Nairobi.[1] It sits across the International border with Uganda, adjacent to its similarly named sister town of Malaba, Uganda.
A metre gauge railway also crosses the border at this point. The nearby town of Busia is also a busy border post. A proposed new standard gauge railway from Mombasa would pass through this town. [2]
Malaba was the main town of the defunct Teso District (though not the capital). It had a population of 7,302 according to the 1999 census.[3]
The main cyber cafe is Asante Computers located opposite Tesia Supermarket. it offers Computer related services like, photocopying, printing, laminating, internet & emailing, typesetting and scanning. It also offers computer classes majorly mentored by Eunice Nafula, partly by Edson Imo.
Border crossing
It is expected that in July 2016, the construction of a one-stop-border-crossing between Malaba, Kenya and Malaba, Uganda will conclude.[4]
