Maliq-Opar is a community in the Korçë County, Albania.[1] At the 2015 local government reform it became part of the municipality Maliq.[2]
History
The origin of the medieval Albanian noble family Muzaka, which would later rule a lordship based at Berat, is found in Opar.[3] In his memoirs, Gjon Muzaka (fl. 1510) wrote that Opar was a village populated by Albanians fought against Slav and Ottomans, they joined the Skanderbeg army.[4]
Culture
The masons of the area speak a unique sociolect known as Purishte.
