Mamdouh Elssbiay (born 16 September 1984), better known by his bodybuilding nickname Big Ramy, is an Egyptian professional bodybuilder.[1] At the 2015 Mr Olympia, he broke the record for the heaviest bodybuilder to compete in the prestigious event, weighing in at 316 lbs.[2]

Background

Elssbiay was born and raised in Egypt. He won his pro card by winning the overall title at the 2012 Amateur Olympia in Kuwait City, just three years after he started training.[3]

In 2010 Mamdouh Elssbiay joined Oxygen Gym in Kuwait. By 2011 he was up to 200lbs and when he stepped on the 2012 Amateur Olympia stage, he weighed in at 286 lbs, was declared the champion. and the world met the man known as "Big Ramy." In 2013, Ramy made his IFBB Pro debut at the New York Pro where he won the contest and the applause of the tough New York crowd.

Elssbiay is married with two children. The younger of the two was born on the night of the New York Pro Show.
