Manoj Kumar Chauhan Hindi: मनोज कुमार चौहान (born May 23, 1967) is a senior Indian civil servant who is currently posted as Additional District Magistrate-Executive,Muzaffarnagar. He is 1997 batch P.C.S officer from Uttar Pradesh cadre.
Early life and education
He was born to Digvijay Singh and Kela Devi. He hail from very humble background of agriculturist. He done his primary education from primary school in his own village Sharifnagar. Later he studied in Bijnor till class XII.He did B.A and L.L.B in K.G.K Inter College and Allahabad University.
Career
In 1997,he got selected as P.C.S officer attaining 8th rank all over Uttar Pradesh and went to then Uttar Pradesh Academy of Administration (now Uttarakhand Academy of Administration) in Nainital. He first joined as Sub-Divisional Magistrate(SDM) in Udham Singh Nagar district now in Uttarakhand. After Uttarakhand broke from Uttar Pradesh in 2000,he choose his home state Uttar Pradesh to be posted in after partition. Recently he imposed Section 144 in Muzaffarnagar preventing riots from happening again in Muzaffarnagar[1] which earlier led to India largest migration of Muslim community after partition in 1947.[2]
As Registrar at Chaudhary Charan Singh University
He joined as Registrar in Chaudhary Charan Singh University on 28 February 2014 and after few months relation between Vice Chancellor and him stated getting bitter and high media drama took place over the issue after he blacklisted some companies for not providing good service to university and also questioning the appointment of Exam Controller of the varsity.[3] Many companies complained it to VC who issued order to nullify the order made by him making an ego flash point[4] and protest from students showing sympathy for registrar which ultimately led an failed attempt of breaking of sealed office of registrar to make him registrar again.[5] VC immediately relieved him from duties of Registrar of University so registrar went to Ministry of Higher Education of UP where he got an order that he is the registrar of University but VC did not accept it as he was not supposed to take orders from Ministry of Higher education but from Governor of state and also VC said that he would resign if Manoj Chauhan join back as registrar of university.[6] Registrar went to high court where he got and favorable judgement.[7][8][9] Vice Chancellor appealed to Supreme Court against previous court judgement but Supreme Court rejected his plea and upheld the previous judgement thus ending the nine months tussle.[10]
Personal life
He is married to writer Aakaanksha Singh in 1997. They have two children and live in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, India.
