The Church of Mary Help of Christians (Spanish: Iglesia María Auxiliadora) is a Roman Catholic parish church in Villa Colón, Montevideo, Uruguay.[1]

History

The temple is part of a bigger ensemble dominated by the private school "Colegio Pío IX",[2] which was established by initiative of Saint John Bosco in the second half of the 19th century. The church dates back to 1877. It is held by the Salesians of Don Bosco and dedicated to Mary Help of Christians.[3]

The temple was declared a National Votive Sanctuary by Archbishop Mariano Soler, who blessed it personally in 1901.[4] The parish was established on 22 October 1919.[1]
