Maria Memon (Urdu: ماریہ میمون) is a prominent Pakistani journalist, newscaster and opinion maker, currently working as a content manager for ARY News. She hosted the talk show Meray Mutabiq for Geo News with Hassan Nisar.[1]
Background
Memon was born to a military family and draws inspiration from the empowered women in her life, particularly her grandmother, who instilled in her the value of education. An avid reader, Memon’s current reading list includes Indian Summer and the works of Manto.[2]
Education and career
A software engineer by profession, Memon, who originally wanted to be a doctor, was inspired through her communication skills professor who encouraged her to polish her public speaking skills. She started to work as an human resources consultant after her graduation and joined Geo TV as a program coordinator for Geo English. After the project to which she was assigned was cancelled, the bureau chief of Geo TV sent her to the newsroom. Initially she hosted the program Meray Mutabiq, which gave her recognition for Pakistani audiences. [3]
