Maria Quiban (born October 28, 1970) is a weather anchor for KTTV-TV in Los Angeles, California. She studied journalism at the University of Hawaii.[1] Prior to being an anchor in Los Angeles, she was the weather anchor for Hawaii's NBC affiliate KHNL-TV. Quiban has appeared in numerous television shows and films playing a reporter including Bruce Almighty, Cold Case, Everybody Hates Chris and Criminal Minds.

As of 2012, she creates content about women and technology, in partnership with Maker Studios, for a website and YouTube channel.[2]

Personal

Quiban was born Maria T. Aviso in Cebu City, P.I. When she was 9 years old she moved to Honolulu, Hawaii and was there until 1998. She married in Hawaii and was a teenage mother. In 1987, she and her husband had son Desmond. She moved to Los Angeles, CA to work in the L.A. news market in 2000. [3][4] With her husband [5] Sean, she had son Gus in December 2010.[6] She has two children: She spends her free time talking to single young mothers about how they can be successful.

Her husband, Sean Whitesell, died of glioblastoma multiforme on December 28, 2015.[7]
