Marianna Shirinyan (Մարիաննա Շիրինյան; born September 25, 1978), is an Armenian-Danish musician and prizewinner of various musical contests.

Biography

Marianna Shirinyan was born in Yerevan, Armenia on September 25, 1978. She commenced her musical studies at the age of seven when she attended the Tchaikovsky music school in her home town, under the guidance of Margarita Hakobian. In 1997, she went on to study with Igor Javrian at the Komitas Music College in Yerevan, and two years later with Mathias Weber in Hamburg. Finally, she completed her studies at the Musikhochschule Lübeck with Konrad Elser in 2007, finishing with top grades. Shirinyan's artistic advisers in recent years have been Elisabeth Leonskaya and Leif Ove Andsnes.[1]

Performances

Shirinyan managed to perform in several cities of Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Armenia, Russia and other places. Specifically outside Scandinavia, she has performed with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Potsdamer Kammerakademie, the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern, the Munich Symphony Orchestra, Würzburg Philharmonic, Hof Symphony Orchestra, Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, and I Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano. In addition, she has worked with known conductors such as Zoltan Kocsis, Simon Gaudenz, Antonello Manacorda, Thomas Søndergård, Krysztof Urbanski, and Joshua Weilerstein.[2]

In February 2013, Shirinyan made her Rachmaninov performance with the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra.[3]
